Picked it on site walking down High street and I could move in. The place is enormous with side rooms, fireplaces, on 2 floors. Was amazed at the level of personal service and food quality. The place was busy and lively for good reason. Good mix of undergrads from the University and local people who were fun to meet.

we saw at least 4 separate bars in this classy, intimate restaurant. Quite coves and nooks to enjoy the wonderful food. Grand wood and staircases. Very fair prices as well.

I had ordered the soup (tomato) and a plain burger. The tomato soup was without a doubt out of a carton, but it was nice. The home made bread was gorgeous. When my 'plain' burger arrived, it came with loads of cheese and A RASHER ON TOP, WITH NO BUN???!!
She went of to get the bun for me, but by the time she came back the burger was getting cold. Took two bites out of it but it was really tough. I couldn't eat it. The manager was really really nice. She took it off the bill and was very apologetic, not that it was her cooking it!!!
We moved into the front part of the bar and started with one or 2 (as you do!) Philip was extremely accommodating and great fun. One of my friends had a bit of a cold and he kindly, out of nowhere, brought her over a cup of tea and a couple of biscuits. So nice. She was delighted.
The rest of night was brilliant as it started getting busy.
I would definitely return and i would eat here again as the rest of the menu was great.
Plain burger usually means the burger meat accompanied by a burger bun. Just sayin'!

Just back from a girlie weekend in Galway, fantastic weekend. We finished our Saturday night in The Front Door bar and we weren't disappointed. Music was brilliant, place was buzzing and everyone was in great spirits. Will definitely be back soon.

This place had plenty of room for our group of 6 and, even though we were on the top floor, we received attentive, responsive customer service. They have truly achieved a combination of the feeling of a quaint pub in a large space - great atmosphere and great food.
