“Off the Tourist Track”
Reviewed June 21, 2013

If you are staying in or around Salthill near Galway, then this pub is worth a visit. We were there on a Friday night, and would rate it as one of the best pub meals we have enjoyed. The pub has atmosphere, and lots of different seating areas. Service is friendly and meals are ordered and brought to wherever you are seated. Parking is an issue with limited spaces available, however we waited only 5 minutes on a busy Friday evening around 5:30pm before getting a spot on a wet night. .

“Brilliant”
Reviewed June 21, 2013

Had a wonderful meal here recently. They have a balcony restaurant which is bright, buzzy and spotlessy clean which is over the main bar area. The Food was delicious and plentiful. The service was top class and made a pleasant change from the poor service we experienced in other similar type venues in Ireland. Its got an old country pub athomsphere with open fires and wonderful decor. All in all a great experience and we will be back. Well done to the Management and staff at Sheridans.

“Great revamp”
Reviewed June 11, 2013

I really like the revamp of the premises. I thought the place could not get more comfortable but i was wrong. The new look is great although i hope it has not come at a price. I eat in sheridans very regularly and have been quite impressed with the place. However of late the portion sizes have become smaller and the menu has become more expensive. Also i dont like how the veg is cooked. It is presently always dry and either re heated or microwaved. In the past it was usually fresh steamed veg. customers do notice these things. i hope they go back to what they used to do best. Serve decent fresh food.

Hi Shane C

Thank you firstly for taking the time out to write a few words about Tom Sheridan's it is very much appreciated, we always encourage feedback as it is a great way to motivate staff and continually improve.

We are very happy that you like the revamped space as it is something we are very proud off but we were very disappointed that you did not enjoy your meal as much as you have on previous occasions. Please be assured we are taking your comments on board and our front of house and kitchen team will be sitting down to review them and hopefully avoid this kind of disappointment happening again.

I do hope you will take the opportunity to visit us and the new look Sheridan's in the near future and try our food offerings once again.

Regards

Dermot and all the team at Tom Sheridan's

“Let down one too many times.”
Reviewed June 3, 2013

I have a habit of writing predominantly positive reviews because I believe that positive reinforcement is a powerful motivation for businesses to keep up the good work. However, sometimes negative feedback is absolutely necessary and never more than after my recent experience at Tom Sheridan's Bar and Restaurant in Knocknacarra. I have sporadically visited Sheridan's at least forty times over the past six years. Sheridan's is situated in a great location and has a good mix of pub and restaurant seating and a bar has delivered a good pint on many occasions. The overall atmosphere of the place is good and the decor is especially great for tourists. On the other hand, the quality of the food and service has repeatedly been all over the place. In fact, I will state that overall food and service consistency has been extremely poor. Very recently, Sheridan's has received a welcome reconfiguration of its bar area downstairs which better allows people to come and go when the bar is full. I recently took a party of 8 to Sheridan's for dinner on a week day. We originally booked for twelve, but ended up scaling our group back to eight. We were seated for 30 minutes before our first order (for drinks only) was taken. It was another 20 minutes before our drinks arrived. After ordering our entrees, it took a full hour for our food to arrive. On top of that, one person in our group ordered a main-course salad only to find a tiny mess of wilted lettuce and dry chicken arrive at the table. The waiter did replace the dish - almost 30 minutes after sending it back. Other entrees were simply not up to the standard of such an establishment. At the end, service of one round of drinks and one course took 2.5 hours! If it was simply 'pub-grub' that Sheridan's aspired to, then we might have accepted such a dismal performance, but not as a newly-remodeled and competitive eatery with prices around 20 Euro per entree. The manager on duty did apologize for the service issues stating that the place was busier than expected, however he made no effort to comp us for any part of our meal or entice us to come back. At this point, I simply cannot recommend Sheridan's as a restaurant although if one simply stops in for a pint, I'm sure the bar service is still decent.

“Beef Skewers were nothing short of amazing!!!”
Reviewed May 28, 2013

I recently met with a friend of mine for an early light lunch and whilst feeling a little peckish didn't want to eat much. So I opted for a starter off their new menu which was beef skewers on a bed of noodles. This was absolutely amazing!! The beef was so tender, the peppers that accompanied it were cooked just right and the noodles had an lovely taste. Overall this was a great dish and actually wanted to go back later that day for more!

I would love to see them stop changing their menus so much and focus more on getting dishes as good as this on their menu permanently!!
