This place is a great place for a walk, enjoying the view of the ocean. There are hotels and restaurants along the way, but the best thing is the view.

Having just arrived in Ireland the day before from a 8 hour flight, we wanted a nice relaxing walk to introduce us to Galway. The Prom was a perfect start after a great breakfast. It was a clear warm morning to enjoy amazing views of the bay, where you could see hints of the burren and the Aran Islands. Such an enjoyable walk along the seafront with lots of joggers and walkers doing the same. It was a wonderful stroll with amazing views and a perfect way to start our Irish vacation........followed by a great Irish Coffee mmmmmmm !!

I have never seen so many enthusiastic walkers, joggers and runners in all ages, shapes and sizes as on the Promenade at Salthill. We even joined in ensuring that when we reached the western end we "kicked the wall". We were there on a Sunday morning and to see so many people taking a dip in the sea at the outdoor swimming pool was something else.
Loads of free parking on the road alongside the Promenade.

The promenade is breath taking. The minute we got there we saw 2 rainbows as a welcome. These people are so lucky to have this place. It must be quite busy in the summer.

While staying in Galway we took advantage of the good weather and went for a walk along the promenade in Salthill. It is a very popular place for walkers and runners of all ages, shapes and sizes, people were pushing chairs from baby strollers to disabled wheelchairs to old age wheelchairs and everyone seemed to be enjoying the gentle sea breezes that were coming in. There were plenty of seats along the way if you needed a rest and the whole place was clean with lots of stations along the way to get 'clean up' bags if you were walking a dog, a nice touch I thought. The views across the water was just beautifully peaceful, watching the sun cast shadows changing the landscape, well worth taking time out to just sit.
