Xmas fair was here while i was visiting but i felt it far too expensive during these harsh times for Ireland . Very messy underfoot and street beggars were everywhere , Lots of rubbish strewn about as litter bins do not seem to be emptied on a daily basis . Avoid if you can as constant beggars start to make you feel vulnerable .

This is a lovely little mall in the middle of Center City. There are a decent number of shops, mostly specialty stores with the exception of Dunne's which is the one large shop in the mall. The specialty stores are quite varied allowing shopping for a large number of items. The Dunne's store also has a grocery area in the lower level and that was handy for a stop before we went back to our cottage. There are also a few places to eat in the mall for a quick lunch or a light dinner. We ate a small late lunch at Sail Restaurant consisting of soup and sandwiches and that was very tasty. The location of the mall is convenient to city centre and the shops seem to be open until about 7 PM or so. There is also an architectural interest to this mall as there is an older building facade incorporated into the interior. I thought I read that this facade was once part of the Spanish Arch but I could not confirm that. Nonetheless, it adds nicely to the ambiance. It is a nice stop if you want to take a look in some shops while you are in downtown Galway.

My favourite city, I have travelled lots of places but I always love coming back here. It's small enough so you can walk everywhere. Shop street is pedestrian so you can have a stroll in peace. I love to sit outside one of the many cafe's or pubs, have a coffee, listen to the buskers and people watch. You see so many different people with different styles. There is a huge selection of major stores as well as smaller shops and there are plenty of places to eat. It has a wonderful nightlife with a huge selection of restaurants, late bars and nightclubs. A top place to visit !!
