“The real thing”

Real Irish music in a real historic venue. it was fabulous. Cormac and friends gave us a background on the instruments and the songs, provided opportunity to ask questions and played and danced to wonderful Irish music. We purchased a CD and enjoyed it for the rest of our visit to Ireland. It was a highlight.

“Such fun!”

The music was great with traditional Irish music including singing, fiddle, flute, and guitar. The musicians were funny and welcoming.

“Grand Experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 4, 2013

We were treated to fine musicianship of traditional Irish tunes in the church. The acrostics were a marvel as the ancient stone amplified the concertina, accordion, viola and voice. If you have the opportunity to support Irish traditional music and the church do not miss this opportunity.

“Skip the glitz and glamour and come here for the true taste of Ireland”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 4, 2013

I was dreading the commercialized trad events which, in some cases, use the dancing version of lip-syncing (the shoes of dancers don't have real taps - the sound comes from tapes), and are "tarted up" for tourists. I found this instead and it was a revelation. It was like being invited into the home of an Irish family for a craic with the aunts, uncles, neighbors, and all. The musicians chatted, laughed, danced, sang, did more toe tapping than I'd ever thought possible, and generally made this an evening I would repeat again and again. I can't recommend it highly enough. These are real musicians - skip the commercial crud!

“The Real McCoy”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 2, 2013

I think the tenacious Irish have done well to hang on to their unique culture through centuries of invasion and occupation. Here we have evidence that their music is alive and well and in good hands for future generations. The young artists presented a diverse program featuring violas, a range of concertinas, flute, singing and dancing. It was authentic and beautiful, not the bells and whistles "Riverdance" variety of Irish music. The medieval church with its excellent acoustic was a fitting venue. A thoroughly enjoyable evening,
