“Global Warming hits Galway Bay Hotel!”
Reviewed May 9, 2014

Our first visit to Galway Bay Hotel, in the last four days of January 2013, coincided with a spectacular winter storm. On our more recent stay, in the last four days of April 2014, we experienced a Mediterranean like Salthill with warm sunshine and a Prom thronged with happy walkers, sunbathers, swimmers, divers and canoeists - all a million miles away from the woe and recession obsessed media image of our benighted little country!

No hotel could be better positioned, of course, than The Galway Bay and we again thoroughly enjoyed our stay. A pleasant room, a comfortable bed, powerful piping - hot shower, a splendid breakfast, a decent dinner, a warm welcome - what more could we ask for? We are well aware that none of this happens without sound management and a great deal of hard work. By the way, in our last review we made special mention of Patricia, This time, to our astonishment, she recognised us immediately - after all in the fifteen months since our last visit she must have greeted thousands of guests - and was again most helpful and attentive.

Just two final points: quite unconnected, by the way! On our last evening I - an enthusiastic carnivore - decided to eat from the vegetarian menu. My goat's cheese starter - a work of art on a plate - was delicious and the tortellini main was subtly tasty and satisfying. At about 11.30 pm I visited the toilets in the public area beside the bar to find them spotless with a young man vigorously cleaning.

Please, Galway Bay Hotel when may we return?

Stayed here for a wedding. Check in was nice and easy. Stayed in a nice room on the second floor. Small view of the sea from the window. The room was a little dated but comfortable. Nice bed and comfortable sleep. There was no biro in the room, a little annoying when you want to order breakfast in bed prior to sleep. There was building work on the 2nd floor during our stay but didnt interfere with us that much. Strong paint smell which didnt bother us. A little outside Galway and there is much nicer hotels located in Galway but if your in Salthill this is a good option.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view

Dear ‘Nursetraveller10’,
Thank you for this feedback and I am delighted that you enjoyed your brief time here in the Galway Bay Hotel. You feedback is most welcome and I am disappointed to see that you did not receive a pencil in your bedroom as we do provide this to all guests. Our bedroom refurbishment program is now in its last weeks and the feedback we are receiving regarding this is excellent. Thank you again and hopefully we will have the pleasure of welcoming you back again in the future. Best regards, Dan Murphy

My wife and I stayed for just one night in the Galway Bay Hotel.
We found the staff very welcoming, the room was clean and spacious and the foyer is spendid.
The conservatory overlooking the sea is brilliant!
We dined in the Labster Pot, where the efficient Nigel showed us to our seats.
We were served by the lovely Petra, and our meal was memorable.
The breakfast the following morning was very good, and we appreciated the freshly squeezed orange juice.
I would recomment the Galway Bay hotel to anyone, but not if you are watching the pennies!

My husband and I stayed as guests of this hotel as we were attending a friend’s wedding. This hotel is on the sea-front overlooking the beautiful Galway Bay.
We were very impressed on arrival to the hotel, beautiful setting, ample parking and loads of underground parking.
Hotel foyer and entrance very grand and impressive and reception staff very helpful and polite. Prior to our arrival we communicated via e-mail with the reservation staff, they were very prompt with their responses and extremely helpful.
Hotel décor very sophisticated and rooms were lovely and clean.
We have to give enormous credit to the staff that catered to everyone’s needs at the wedding. As well as working extremely hard, nothing was ever too much trouble and it was a pleasure to be greeted with a smile, the staff are truly a credit to the hotel
Special recognition has to be given to Brian Oliver the Banqueting Manger who co-ordinated the whole evening so eloquently and made the day so special for the Bride and Groom. We were amazed he was still on the go the following morning for breakfast after working so hard the day before.
Breakfast was an absolute feast for the eyes, attention to detail was very obvious and food was fresh, colourful and plentiful.
A huge well done to everyone for the making the weekend so magical and definitely worth another visit in the near future.

We stayed for three days. The Staff is very friendly, the Breakfast was very good. We got a very large room with sea view. The spa was not very large and older. In the city center of Galway one runs about 20min, bus stops outside the hotel. The hotel is excellent!

Room Tip: It is best to ask for a room on the left side (sea view)
