Absolutely, without a doubt, the worst hotel experience I have ever had. The reception staff is terrible. They refused to have anyone help us with our luggage. Probably because they don't employ anyone to help you. The room was large but very depressing. I can see why they call it a Victorian hotel, because the room was decorated back then and the raggedy furniture was purchased way back then. Have pictures of raggedy furniture. The bathroom was nice but no outlet. The rooms are hot and stuffy with no air conditioning or even a fan. TV has about 4 channels even though they advertise satellite tv channels??? The Galway drinking young hoot and holler all night into the early hours outside the hotel. The busses and traffic going around the bend in front of the hotel squeal tires and are very noisy all day and night. We couldn't even get a bucket of ice. Restaurant is only open for breakfast. Hotel has much potential but needs some money sunk into it to make it anything over a "0" rating. I hated it and I have been traveling for many years. It is terrible. A no no.

Room Tip: I would say there are none.

Stayed here for one night recently. First of all the receptionist was not at all friendly, no people skills at all and could really learn how to smile. The room was so outdated, skirting boards falling off, dust everywhere, the wifi is so slow. Also, there was no main light in the ceiling, only very dim lamps in the room, a nightmare for a girl trying to do her make up! Staff woke us up at 7.am on a saturday morning hoovering outside our door, not ideal on a night away after a few drinks the night before!! We didnt eat in the hotel as we had other plans but over all, i would not recommend this hotel, totally outdated and rude staff. they would want to up their game for a city centre hotel, plenty of other hotels in galway would put them to shame

I stayed for 3 nights early in September 2013 and was totally disappointed. Although my room and bathroom which was no. 110 was cleaned well with spotless sheets and towels the room itself was extremely grubby. The room was very dark, but would have benefited had the outside of the windows been cleaned. They looked as though it was at least a year since they has been done. The voile curtain at the window I would have thrown out long ago, but would have looked a lot better had it been ironed as would the valances on the beds, the skirting boards were very scuffed and wallpaper peeling off in places, the radiator needed a lick of paint and the carpet was extremely stained. I also found the facilities of the hotel lacking the bar did not open until 6pm and on one night not until 7pm. The restaurant was closed on the Monday evening (probably a close escape)

The Hotel is in a great location, close to everything in the centre of Galway. Staff are friendly and very helpful. Rooms are fairly basic but very clean. Nice bar area and good breakfast. A great base for a visit to Galway and good value!
