Our room was roomy and staff was courteous. Hotel bar was very nice. But....
NOT a convenient location. It took us 25 minutes to walk to Eyre Square. The traffic (roundabouts) are not pedestrian friendly.
Hated the bathroom - and worst of all - wash/face cloths are not provided. This was the only one of 7 accommodations that did not provide facecloths!!! What does one use to cleanse one's body???

Dear Maryestelle, thank you for staying with us and for your feedback.
We are constantly upgrading our product and just recently received an award from the IASI - Irish Accommodation Services Institute for the quality and standards of our accommodation.
I agree with you about the roundabouts - there is an easy way to negotiate them and as a result of your comment our front desk staff make guests aware of the best way to go - thanks for that.
This is not the first time that we have received comments about face-cloths and something we will consider. We are located just one mile from city centre - Dunnes Stores Shopping centre is just a couple of hundred yards and the main shopping centre is a quarter of a mile from us.
We have a taxi freephone and there is a bus stop opposite the hotel also.
Thanks again for the feedback. Kind regards. le gach dea-ghuí...

Stayed two nights in Menlo Park Hotel early October 2010. Upgraded prior to arrival to a top 10 room at €20 extra per night. The hotel is oldish but bedroom was newly done up in Laura Ashley decor. Massive bed. Fruit basket and personal welcome note. Barfood was very tasty. Breakfast was all you would need. Staff very prompt with tea and toast. Entertainment on Friday and Saturday night suited the older guest and not to my liking but that is personal taste. Nice quiet area and no rowdy revellers passing by as a good distance from nightlife. Not walking distance to town. The only bad thing I have to say is that wifi was very poor with no coverage at all in newly done up rooms. We were offered a different room but as room was so nice opted for the comfort over internet.

Stayed here for a weekend with my boyfriend and would recommend it to anybody. I have never stayed in a hotel where the staff are so friendly and obliging, they couldn't do enough for us! restaurant was one of the best I have eaten in a long time, wide choice of vegetarian options as well as meat options.
Rooms cleaned daily, and bed was really comfortable.

Only a 10/15 minute walk into the centre, which I would advise rather than driving as the city centre traffic can be crazy at weekends. Only €10 taxi at night, and the hotel staff were very helpful in recommending places to stay. Will definitely be coming back.

This hotel has great service. The rooms are a little outdated, but the bathroom is spacious, there is a free wi-fi and a flatscreen tv is provided. The location is about 15-20 mins (walking) from the city centre, so not as a ideal. But still recommended!

Galway is an ideal location when holidaying with 3 teenagers, so I was happy to book a 3-bedroom apartment in this complex. I have to compliment Cheryl, who was incredibly welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. The apartment was surprisingly spacious; apparently used as student accommodation outside the peak holiday season. However, although it appeared clean at first sight, it quickly became apparent that corners had been cut when it came to detail. Dishes were neatly stacked in cupboards, but had the remains of someone's pasta sauce. Likewise, glasses were smeared, cups were stained and counters were crying out for a good clean. We also had a problem with the bedding - although the sheets, pillow cases and duvet covers were clean, our mattress protector stank and we needed to wash it as a matter of urgency. Now, we expected to have to carry out a few chores as it was self-catering accommodation, but this was excessive and not a great start to our stay. Once we dealt with these issues, the apartment proved a pleasant place to holiday. One other problem - although we had a balcony off the kitchen, the key to the door was lost. I was told a locksmith would come out to replace this during our visit, but this never happened meaning we didn't have the use of our balcony.

Your response has been posted under Menlo Park Hotel. We are a separate property to Menlo Park Apartments and under different Management.
I am pleased to say that in the past year we have received an award from the IASI
Irish Accommodation Services Institute for the high standards of accommodation and cleanliness at our hotel - obviously we are therefore very upset that your review has been posted in the wrong place.

Sincerely,

Elaine Brennan, General Manager.
