“Such a disappointment”
Reviewed August 10, 2009

Hotel is a huge letdown. Rooms are old. and musty. Bar staff not very friendly or bothered to serve. Bar also pretty dirty. Dinner was quite tasty. Breakfast on the other hand was not much. The waitresses were to busy talking to serve you that we actually walked out and they didnt even notice. Needs a major revamp and better management skills in my opinion

Absolutely fantastic location, brilliant views, bus right outside the door that operates pretty regularly, but need exact change!(Euro1.60 when I went) Staff were efficient and always helpful. Rooms were large and spacious, slight smell of smoke in the sitting room area, but nothing that you would complain about, unless you have nothing better to complain about. The only down side to the hotel is that it is on a main road, which was very noisy, unfortunately there was a vintage car show in Galway that weekend! I would definitely say that this hotel is worth the money you spend to stay there but don't go there paying for a three star and expecting a four or five star like some of the other reviews I read before staying there seemed to.

I booked this hotel even after reading some bad reviews of this hotel just for the sake that i wanted to be near the Salthill promenade. After spending the weekend (20-21 June, 2009) with my wife, I realized that i was not wrong. Hotel location was awesome (with also a bus once you step out of the hotel), nothing could be compared to the views of the ocean and the promenade from the hotel (all rooms have ocean views, this is true!!). breakfast was good (be sure to take the pomegranate juice), rooms good if you are not the one that will go under the bed to see if there is a hole, or look into the shower to see whether the temperature controller on the shower tap is working every degree centrigrade. To me I would definitely stay in this hotel again when I again go to Galway.

I had very good stay in this hotel. Rooms spacious and clean. Staff helpful & friendly (some foraigners but with fluent English). Amazing view - especially in the morning - if you will be staying there you cannot miss sun rise over the prom!!!
Can't believe previous reviews was for the same hotel. I think some people expect too much for low rate!

We stayed in this hotel in it's early days and really enjoyed it. Clean, large rooms and friendly staff. Last summer we decieded to do the same and were horrified at the state of the place. Dirty, dirty, dirty hotel!!! We had booked for two nights but decided to just stay for one as we had a young child and felt the room was too dirty to let her wander. I only hope the owner reads the bad reviews and gets his as* in gear. It's such a shame that a hotel in such a fantastic location could be soooooooo poor. And that's coming from somebody who stayed in "hotels" in deppest darkest Africa!!! Avoid this place until you see recently refurbed on the website!!!

The rooms in this hotel were incredibly outdated and crummy. The carpet was stained, the couch was stained, it smelled of stale smoke and the bathroom plaster was coming off the walls. We found hairs in our bed and requested new sheets, which were delivered. Quite a shame, being that this hotel is right on the water. It should have consisted of swanky, sparkling rooms but instead, it was like staying in a neglected house from the dingy 70s, early 80s. I don't know who's in charge but they should really do an overhaul. I would not stay in this dank and dreary hotel again, view or no view! The bartender was very nice and friendly, however and the front desk staff were also pleasant.

Me and my boyfriend stayed in the Waterfront hotel over the Easter weekend and had a great stay. We booked a 3 night package which includes 2 dinners.

The hotel room was very large and comfortable and it was nice to have a balcony looking over the seafront. The food in the restaurant was very nice. (Very large portions). The hotel staff we all very friendly and helpful.

(Just a word of warning if you decide to have a nice fish and chips dinner as you are by the sea side do not go to the salt and pepper chip shop as both the fish and chips is frozen and not very nice at all!)
