We stayed here for 2 nights while with a tour group and wish other hotels were as nice as this one. Our room not only had a queen size bed but a sofa, coffee table, and a small table with 2 chairs. The lobby is spacious and the grounds are attractive. It is located in a nice area and is only a short walk from restaurants and other places of business. The restaurant at the hotel also serves good food and is a good choice for a place to eat especially in rainy weather. Both the hotel and restaurant staff were very helpful and pleasant.

Just back from a two night break at the Ardilaun Hotel and cannot fault it. As they say first impressions count and the receptionist did not disappoint...namely Catherine. Thanking her and of course all the other reception staff who answered our minor little queries with a smile and concern. While we did not have dinner in the Hotel we did partake of food in Blazers and it was absolutely delicious as was the buffet breakfast each morning. My husband was delighted with the leisure facilities. Also the Hotel is in its own beautiful grounds and plenty of parking. We will definitely be returning to the Ardilaun in the not too distant future. Will also be recommending the Hotel to family and friends.

We stayed at the Ardilaun for two nights during our recent tour of Ireland. We were surprised to find that the hotel was much more that a first class hotel that it was rated. It is located about two miles outside of the city amongst its own gardens and is in a very quiet area. The rooms were well supplied and very clean. It was a pleasant 45 minute walk into town or a 5 minute taxi ride. The buffet breakfast offered a great choice of delicious food and the staff was very helpful. I would highly recommend you stay at the Ardilaun Hotel

Room Tip: To me all rooms seem equal as all were facing gardens

The Ardilaun is hidden away down a short lane on beautifully planted grounds and within easy walking distance of town and the bay. The building itself is chopped up from additions and more attention should be paid to the signage. The elevators that get you to the main floor, in particular, need to be clearly marked otherwise you seem to end up in dead-end locations. The room was fine with comfortable beds and we had a very quiet location. The breakfast was excellent but the dinner was just a bit hurried, at least for a group experience. The lobby was a great place to sit and read and the hotel staff were quick to respond to questions about postal service and easy ways to walk to the bay. It has both an old-fashioned feel and yet modern accommodations that make the stay there very pleasant.

Room Tip: Everyone we knew had fine rooms with no outside sounds.

We stayed here for two night recently on our weeklong adventure in Ireland. We loved this hotel, it was really unique and our room was very spacious. We didn't get a chance to use the pool but it looked great. We spent our evenings out in Galway City and easily took a taxi both ways. I would say this was the most unique hotel we stayed at during our 9 days in Ireland. It was a quiet location out in the countryside with a lovely garden area outside the hotel. We really enjoyed our stay. They also have a lovely breakfast each day. I loved the mushrooms with breakfast!

We reserved a room with this hotel with 4 other couples. This hotel was advised by our guide and when we went to the website, the standard room look clean, updated and comfortable. When we got to the hotel, we were given rooms that looked as if the furniture was still from the 60's and the mattress was from the same era. The plumbing in the room next door sounded like a LOUD fog horn when the people used the bathroom. It was one of the most uncomfortable nights we spent on our whole trip through Ireland. We complained the next day and were given a MUCH nicer room with a modern bathroom and room to move around in. The other people in our party were not so fortunate. The rooms they gave us should have NEVER been rented to anyone. There was a sign in the area where these rooms were saying that the area was under construction. I will say that as soon as we complained, we were changed but we did overhear the staff making fun of us at the front desk because we refused to stay in an "old" room. There was nothing charming or European about the room we were given. It was just downright run down and dingy. There were stains on the wall paper. We were in room 219. So, if you make plans to stay at this hotel make sure that you state you want a renovated room!!!

Dear 'bobbi1949',

While we are thankful that you have taken the time to post your review, we are of course disappointed to read it.

Your review has been communicated throughout the hotel. Customer satisfaction is very important to us and, at all times, feedback is addressed.

Apologies again that the room assigned initially did not meet your expectations. We have a refurbishment programme underway at the moment and this is why the signage that you noticed was in place. Rooms which have not yet been completed are on the programme and will be refurbished as quickly as possible. The same rooms were painted/papered previously in the past couple of years.

It is correct that there was an issue in relation to the plumbing in the room next to 219 - thank you for making us aware - this has now been rectified. Thank you also for bringing to our attention the two small stains on the wallpaper in room 219 - this paper has now been replaced.

While it is true that the room you refer to is one of the older rooms in the hotel, we feel that your comment that the room was 'downright run down and dingy' is unfair to say. At all times we try hard to ensure customer satisfaction, address feedback and maintain very high standards in terms of quality and service.

We thank you again for your feedback and we hope that you will return to stay with us again in the future.

Best Regards,
The Ardilaun Team

I stayed in this hotel for two nights for business and it was brilliant. I had booked meeting rooms and they were set up exactly as I had asked. They were very clean and located beside each other which was a big bonus. A colleague of mine who attended commented on how well organised everything was and that he really enjoyed his lunch in the bar. I ate in the bar myself on two occasions and the food was delicious. I had the special meal deal offer which is great value two courses and a drink for €24. The Chocolate and Raspberry tart is to die for and like three desserts in one. I think I would travel to Galway especially to have this again :-D I would have to single out the bar staff for their friendliness.
The hotel is modern but maintains a traditional charm. I was very impressed with how spotless my room was. It was perfect, a good size and plenty of mirrors. The only negative thing I could say about the hotel was that I forgot my toothbrush and it said in the information guide in the room that they had emergency supplies at reception but they didn't. In fairness, they possibly could have called to the room shortly after when I was washing my hair.
The hotel has a great choice for breakfast. It's buffet but you can also order other items.
I will definitely return to this hotel for leisure as it is located very close to the beach in Salthill and not far from the city centre either. I highly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: I had a room on the third floor which was perfect, easy to access, very quiet and spacious. The gar...
