My husband as a mother's day gift, treated my mother and myself to 3 nights B&B and 1 evening meal in this wonderful quaint hotel. Upon our arrival we were greeted by a lovely receptionist (Barbara, I think is her name). She was so cheerful and welcoming and made us feel right at ‘home’ before we even saw our room. We left the reception with smiles on our faces as we went to our room. We were taking in all the wonderful character and charm of the hotel as we walked the corridors to our room. The decor is spotless and is in perfect keeping with this charming hotel.
Our twin room (316) was very spacious with a double and single bed. The room was bright, airy and a cosy warmth greeted us upon entering the room. The room over looked the beautifully kept gardens with tree lined paths enticing to be explored. Although it was cold outside we were lucky with the weather and with the sunlight that flooded our room all day long. The en-suite bathroom was tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean with lots of toiletries and fresh towels. The bathtub was lovely and deep so you could totally submerge yourself. The chamber maids were so, so friendly yet maintaining a professional cleaning service.
The restaurant offered an amazing buffet breakfast with a great variety of cereals, pastries, fruit, juices along with freshly cooked meats, eggs, mushrooms etc. The only thing I would suggest would be to provide some tray’s seeing it is a self service buffet, as some of the plates were extremely hot to handle and a tray would have made a huge difference. The restaurant itself was spacious with enough tables and enough room to move around and well laid out. As we dined we looked out across the terrace outside and into the beautiful manicured gardens.
We dined in Blazers Bar for our evening meals because the restaurant was not open in the evenings for dining. Although Blazers bar was lovely and both bar and waiting staff were wonderful, friendly and accommodating, we would have preferred to have eaten our meals in the restaurant as it felt more ambient. Blazers Bar was however comfortable but felt more casual dining rather than a more reserved dining experience. Once again the food was superb with a nice choice of dishes to choose from.
The leisure club was also very good. The pool was a little on the chilly side on all 3 occasions we used it, but well maintained and as in keeping with the rest of the hotel was spotlessly clean, with friendly staff. The Jacuzzi was wonderful and so spacious and unusual in its design but I will leave that pleasant surprise for the next guest to discover. All the facilities were wonderful and well kept.
There is nothing and I mean nothing we could honestly say bad about this hotel, its management or the exceptionally friendly staff. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in The Ardilaun Hotel and we plan to return again to this wonderful hotel with all its charm. On behalf of my mother and myself, we HIGHLY recommend this hotel to stay and dine in. Well done to all management and staff, you truly made our holiday, thank you :)
