“Great location- not good for weekend!”
Reviewed July 24, 2013

We were there for a Friday and Saturday night and while the hotel was clean and nice (the bed was super comfy and the bathroom was large), the hen parties that were staying at the hotel were SO LOUD ALL NIGHT LONG. We listened to the girls one night declare their love for one another for about 30 minutes at 4 AM by yelling down the hallway to each other. It is a really nice hotel and the staff is lovely and helpful, but this was a problem and it should be monitored. I expect that sort of nonsense in a hostel, but not in a nice hotel where everyone isn't 22 and looking to stay up all night.

Breakfast was the best I had in our 2 weeks in Ireland- a nice variety of traditional Irish breakfast, fresh fruit, pastries, yogurt, etc. If we go again, we will stay here (location and value were good) but we will go in the middle of the week with fewer loud parties.

Room Tip: Bring earplugs?

We stayed here in early July 2013, just before the summer heat began.
The large isolated block of the building houses things other than the hotel. The hotel's car park is beneath and is approached from the side opposite to the public parking area. The general location is in a large wasteland of sites cleared for re-development. None of this matters when you enter the lobby area which is user friendly and welcoming.
All was very good, clean, well decorated and with pleasant people at reception and onwards.
We found it easy to ramble into the central city area (think of four 70 + year old people). We even found our way back again without assistance.
Food was good, breakfast and other meals. We were encountered a very young trainee waiter (Brian ?) was enthusiastic the establishment and his job.
We found the hotel to be an ideal base for touring the area and reception staff were very helpful.

Room Tip: There may be traffic noise in rooms adjacent to the road.

My wife and I have just returned from a holiday in Ireland finishing with a three day stay in the Harbour Hotel, Galway City. I cannot speak too highly of our brief stay there.
I must first mention the staff who were a joy to speak with whether on reception or in the dining room. Smiles, humour and an effort to do eveything in their powers to help were everyday currency.
The hotel location is perfect being quiet but only a 7 minute easy walk to the City Centre. Galway City itself hums with life and is ideally situated to explore the glorious hinterland of Connemara and Clare once you can get out through the deadly traffic in Galway.
It was terrifically hot and there was no A/C in the room but the weather was so unusual for the west of Ireland. I will certainly go there again next visit.

Room Tip: At the back away from the road.

Hotel is located within walking distance to Galway City and it was nice to be in the middle of the action quickly. It is also located right in front of a scrap metal dock area but you can look past that because of the convenience to the city. We started off in a room that overlooked the busy street and it was so loud with constant road noise that I asked for a different room. The desk clerk was very accommodating and gave me the last room they had. This one was right over the huge air handling units but that was better than the road noise. To make things worse the weather was very warm which made all of the rooms extremely hot (no AC) so we had to keep the windows open for fresh air. This wasn't the fault of the hotel - just mother nature providing Ireland with warm, sunny weather! The hotel was very clean and the beds were comfortable. The breakfasts were good and offered many choices. We had dinner in the restaurant one night and it was just ok. There are better choices just a walk away in the city.

Stayed here with family in July 2013 in the middle of the heatwave. The rooms were excessively hot and it was difficult to sleep, but this was no fault of the hotel- Irish buildings just aren't created for such temperatures.

Because we had to leave the windows open at night for air, it was pretty noisy.

So, that's the bad part out if the way, despite this, we would certainly book again. The staff were lovely, very helpful and interacted with our children a lot. Rooms were spotless, towels changed daily... nothing too fancy, but just exactly what we needed.

The location is ideal for walking around the city, less than 5 minutes and you're in the main shopping area. Breakfast was delicious, lots to pick from.

Does exactly as it says on the tin - a good 3 star hotel.
Booked very last minute and got the last hotel room left in Galway!
if you are looking for luxury then book somewhere else but this is a good hotel, friendly staff, good service, clean rooms, good facilities and a good location
Rates were a bit cheeky but Galway in summer is crazy busy so they are obviously making the most of it.

Very good breakfast and service is excellent. Great selections and tastey! Rooms can be stuffy and hot. Since it is a major road tends to be very noisy. Select a room that does not face street.
Food was good. Bar was excellent!
