Have stayed in many Galway hotels over the years but from now on it will be the Harbour Hotel!
Here's why: friendly and efficient staff, comfortable room, great dinner, easy reach of Shop St. and we got a great rate!
We booked a senior citizens one night break to include B and B, a three course dinner and tea/coffee on arrival for 118 euro. on the hotels own website.
Check in was pleasant and efficient - we were not hungry on arrival so we were pleasantly informed that we could have our tea and scones the following day before leaving the hotel.
Room - large comfy bed, good bedlinen, spotless bathroom, flatscreen TV, bottled water with the tea and coffee making facilities, trouser press and hairdryer. Downside: Decor fairly nondescript, brown carpet and curtains and furniture chosen for functionality rather than style but the room large and well lit. View was over the carpark but this was not a problem for us as we were not there to look out on Galway bay as it was dark and freezing and were only staying one night! Also we knew that there wouldn't be much noise on a Sunday night.
Dinner was as good as any restaurant I've ever visited, white table linen, candlelight and really good food beautifully presented and served by the charming waitress,
Slept in and arrived for breakfast at ten twenty. Lots of food still available however - good typical hotel breakfast - we did not feel at all rushed despite breakfast finishing at ten thirty. Went shopping (a short walk ) and returned to collect the car. Five euro parking fee which we didn't mind considering the rate we got for our night away. Very pleasant checkout. Can't comment on the tea and scones though as we were so well fed at the Harbour Hotel we simply couldn't fit them in!!
All in all a very satisfactory night in Galway booked on impulse the previous night and many thanks to all the staff at the Harbour Hotel for making this an enjoyable experience.

Room Tip: Specify when booking if you want a room with a view. This part of Galway can be noisy on weekends so if this is a priority with you ask for a quiet room or stay further out of town

Stayed here on a Saturday night - lovely hotel, very comfortable, very welcoming, great location, beautiful food and prompt and excellent service!

Night time noise from partying hens and stags was deplorable on our floor however, despite a complaint to reception. Didn't get to sleep at all.

Lovely clean hotel. Very pleasant and helpful staff. Rooms were very nice, well maintained. Perfect distance for visiting Galway. One tip - do plan your breakfast and do pay attention to the traffic light breakfast sign they have in the lift! Red alert for breakfast at 10-11 does mean you will be waiting a while - approx 15 mins to be seated. Once you pay attention to this you'll be fine! Great variety at breakfast and lovely decor in restaurant.

Very pleased we chose this hotel for our one-night stay in Galway. Welcoming and friendly, clean and comfortable. Easy to find, convenient location for parking; spitting distance from the centre and really convenient but still nicely away from the thick of it. Hotel is well-managed and obviously popular. Very good breakfast. There was at least one hen party in but we noticed little or no disturbance.
