“Staff let the experience down”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 26, 2012

Just returned from a business stay in this hotel. Regularly stay so pleased to notice all the little changes they have made (new dining room decorations, cookies in room, face cloths in bathroom, complimentary bottled water).

However I have decided not to give them my business again purely because of (a) the noise level in the hotel and (b) some staff's attitude when highlighting the noise.

I told the receptionist Kevin ,this morning when I checked out that my room 133 was very noisy (car park outside and air conditioning unit directly ouside window) and I didn't get any sleep. I got zero response from him and no apology. I had booked another night in November and asked i could have a quiet room.

It's a shame that the receptionist had such a compliance attitude as the rest of my experience in the hotel (apart from the noisy room) was positive. Lovely food in the restaurant the night before and Tina and Lucas the waiters were fab. Breakfast was decent and the furnishings in the hotel look great.

I decided to cancel my booking in November (again with the same receptionist Kevin) who was totally unfazed and didn't ask why. I'll be spending my money elsewhere when I stay in Galway in the future.

My suggestion would be to ensure your FOH staff are more euthustic when listening to customer (valid) complainants!!

i stayed at this hotel for 2 nights with my friend for a weekend and found it to be nice but forgettable. the decor was the same as every other modern hotel. bedrooms were clean but a touch on the small side. staff were friendly and efficient. my only complaint woul be the leisure center. no swimming pool and only one small jacuzzi. also, treatment rooms are right beside jacuzzi room. i didnt think this presented a problem until we were shushed and asked to be quietwhich i didnt appreciate. if you dont want noise struchture your hotel better. otherwise pleasent but nothing special.i would reccomend it for a quick trip to galway.

Ideally situated close to centre of Galway. Parking available at resonable rate. Public parts of hotel are clean and quite attractive. Friendly and helpful staff. Food good. The rooms are comfortable, clean and well laid out if a little on the small side, but it is only a 3 star hotel. Highly recommended.

My wife and I spent two nights in the Harbour Hotel Galway. It is located near the town center, but in an area of commerce and industry. In fairness, there aren't many hotels right in the town center and you can walk to the center quickly. The room was clean, and of average size. Bathroom was reasonably well appointed. We asked for a new room because the first room had windows that whistled when the blustery wind blew. The wind may have been unusually severe, but our room facing the front of the building was blocked from the wind and quieter.
Breakfast was complete and served in the same room that contained the bar. It was a complete Irish breakfast.
Parking is an additional cost.

I've stayed here a few times, and I've been consistently happy with the experience. The hotel overall is very clean, and the rooms are spotless. Galway can be a lively place, and many hotels are based near the noise this kicks off. This one is about 7 minutes walk to the centre, and it's boisterous side, but as its on a relatively isolated stretch of road (beside a harbour and a small lake), it manages to be in quite a quiet location. The rooms are warm and well provisioned (nice big tv, free wifi, plenty of power sockets). The cooked breakfast is lovely, and imho worth paying the extra €5 it costs to have it delivered to your room. Service is fast and friendly, the attached restaurant and bar are comfortable, clean and the menu has good variety.

We stayed here for 2 nights and enjoyed our stay. The room standard was good and the level of staff service was high especially in the restaurant. All the staff we met were lovely young people and they displayed a level of service that showed they had been well trained. The special meal on offer for 20 euros in the restaurant was good value. The hotel is a short walk to the city.
