Have only eaten here a few times during the day. The food is tasty but a little on the expensive side for lunch. Service is fast and the staff are very friendly. Love to go here as a treat rather then a place you could eat lunch in everyday.

Overall I enjoyed my meal - the chowder was excellent but my friend ordered the caeser salad with dressing on the side. Our waitress brought down the plate but with no dressing at all. It took her a while to come back with the dressing with a bit of a huffy demeanour

Nothing fancy, but solidly good food. Had the pork belly -- not as fatty as usual so was quite good. Pate appetizer good too. Considering the great location and the high prices in Ireland, Maxwells' a fine value. Not gourmet, but well-prepared. Service was superb and, for me, this makes or breaks a restaurant.

Spending a week in Ireland on vacation we were tired of pub food. We had walked by Maxwells one night and thought it looked nice. The next night we tried to go to a popular fish place which it turned out is closed on Sunday -- contrary to their website. We walked a few blocks to Maxwells and were happy to see it was open. We both had the price fixed set menu since ala carte was about the same price. When they didnt have the salmon for my meal, we agreed to substitute pan fried cod. It was excellent -- some of the best cod I had ever had. The veggies were good and the goat cheese beetroot salad was excellent. The decor was quiet and modern, not the dungeon with low ceiling oak beams of the pubs. It was a welcome respite from the touristy places we have been to in Ireland. Highly recommended.
