If you are in Galway a visit to Cupan Tae is a must. One wonders why nobody thought of it years ago - the retro look with fine bone china in infinite variety, georgous tablecloths and such a vast variety of tea is a real winner. Combine that with great tasting, freshly prepared food and what could be better? But it gets better! After the savoury allow yourself to be tempted...the cakes are mouthwatering and have that distinctive homemade taste. When we visited lately staff were stretched but still managing to provide a quality service and a great lunch experience at a price which represents great value for money.

The last time I visited here was on a first date, it was a sweet location, the cake was yummy, the tea came in a pot, what could be lovelier. I've also come here for a natter over a cuppa with friends. Worth a wee visit I'd say

Along with 8 friends we piled into into this small establishment where, after a short wait and a bit of table lifting and rearranging, we were accommodated together for lunch. The 'shabby chic' style might be a little overdone but the menus are interesting and wholesome, plenty of tasty sandwiches, soups, salads and light meals with a selection of cakes to follow. The choice of teas was impressive and my pot of fennel tea hit the spot, soothing away the excesses of the previous evening! Worth a visit.

Have been here several times. Lovely relaxed atmosphere with a different vibe from run of the mill coffee shops. Great sellection of teas and home baked cakes and scones, here you really do get that propper pot of tea you have been waiting for! Colourful and delicate china is used and displayed, reminds me of my Grandmother and the little details set the tone; napkins, sugar cubes, fireside, table cloths, a local customer knitting and enjoying her afternoon tea :)
A note:Staff are helpful but could be a little more professional i.e not come to the table with 2 boxes and refill the sugar bowl during our special meeting!

Great service and a large and delicious suggestion. Great variety of homemade breads, pastries, teas, as well as breakfast meals and sandwiches. We enjoyed eating outside here by the water as well.
