“Great place, excellent meal and friendly staff”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 31, 2013

I live in Galway from 5 years. First time when I was in The Galleon Restaurant I fall in love with they menu. 3 years ago they change it and it was even better. All looks fantastic and even better taste. Every time when my family or friends visit Galway I take them here. You can't find better place to eat and enjoy your meal. And when you tummy is full and you can't move yourself, the best option is to go for a walk to the Salthill Promenade. It's just few steps.

“Refugees from local hotel saved!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 5, 2013

We were forced to eat here because of the poor food available at a local large hotel, and we were very pleased that we did eat here. The food was perfectly prepared quickly served and with staff who were an absolute delight.By coincidence one of the waitresses had parents who owned a house only 10 kilometres away from our house in the south of France, and despite the fact that the restaurant was very busy(surely a good sign in November)she spent some time chatting to us about France and making us feel very welcome in Galway, which the hotel failed to do Come here if you want good reasonably priced food served quickly by friendly staff

“Good Food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 4, 2013

As an overview of “The Galleon”, the word “ordinary” comes to mind.
The décor is based on the Volvo race and, while it is pleasant to look at and even - in the case of some of the pictures at least – dramatic, it is rather dated now (The “Volvo” is well over). The fact that it was very busy is a tribute to it’s popularity and the quality of the food.

Service was reasonably efficient. The food was perfectly good, if somewhat unimaginative. My cod was very good, the accompanying chips were fine. My wife ordered the “Full Irish” which also was very good, with a good mix of the usual ingredients. Overall, I would have to say that the food was good, the pace relaxed and the service was reasonable. The cost of our meal was comparable to many other restaurants, and given the quality of the food, was reasonable.

“Nice lunch for a solo traveler”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 1, 2013

I was warmly welcomed and shown to a corner table that gave me a view of the street. The restaurant was clean and a woman who may have been the owner attentively checked with people about their satisfaction or needs. I had the soup of the day and shepard's pie. Both items were served hot, very tasty and completely filling. The coffee was nicely flavored and served hot. I enjoyed this long standing restaurant very much.
