Its a cafe calling itself a restaurant to be honest. And for cafe food its not even a challanger based on what we had, but we went there the other night. So between 5 of us we had a burger, seafood platter, chicken kiev and carbonara. The chicken kiev was ok but very dry. Carbonara was grey coloured sauce spooned on top of pasta, it tasted like mushroom soup. (in fairness the manager removed it from our bill, it went uneaten). Burger I was told was fantastic. And the seafood platter was a very trendy for the 70s combo of prawn cocktail, salmon (cocktail?) and some white fish (cocktail) with potato salad..

Anyway wouldn't be going back..it wasn't that expensive but should definitely not be in the top 4 in Galway.

Not sure why I didnt get the same experience as all the other reviewers. It was not a good dining experience by any means.Last here in the nineties ,it hasnt moved on in any way .Particularly in regards to the type and quality of food served up.We could have had similar food in any of the fast food outlets nearby and paid a lot less.
We had two lunches which came to €20,brown bread and prawns ,burger and chips. The salad was lifeless,no dressing and looked tired. The slices of tomatoes were dry and had been sitting for some time ,white at the edges. The brown bread had dried out in the middle ,the burger thin ,tasteless and pasty .The prawns were drowning in mayonnaise.
Overall one of most unappetising snacks in a long time .Maybe it is the off season and the same attention to detail is not given. However I had the impression this restaurent is caught in a time warp in terms of decor and food served.

Beautiful place, friendly staff, great food and value, we loved the desserts but barely had room left, so be advised save room! Definitely will be back more often. Great with the kids too as they have colouring competitions and service very quick for kids etc...

We really enjoyed our visit to the Galleon and were very happy that we decided to visit, the staff were all really nice, the food was tasty and the bill was great value. We loved the Chowder and the Steak as previous reviews have recommended too ... highly recommend a visit and also try the Calamari! Yum yum yummy.... we'll be back again soon
