We did not actually eat at Monroe's (though it was recommended). However we did stop by for a pint and some local music. The staff was friendly, the music and atmosphere was great, the locals were very fun!

“One of the best pubs”
Reviewed February 22, 2013

Here is one of the best pubs in Galway. You should spend at least a night over there. The jam session on the second floor are great.

Really enjoyed an afternoon lunch here with friends and the pint was lovely too. Definitely the best venue for live music in Galway, great staff and service and sociable customers, highly recommend a visit:-)

“Large and Vibrant Pub”
Reviewed January 14, 2013 via mobile

This is not your average quaint little pub. It's a massive place but has its own charm. I was impressed by the food. I had some of the best fish and chips on my trip to Ireland at Monroe's. The bartender was very friendly and spent some time at my table talking to my parents and I about his time in the US. If you're looking for an old fashioned Irish pub this is probably not the place for you, but they serve a decent plate of food and the beer is good.

“Still good”
Reviewed January 12, 2013

This place holds great memories for me. Went to Yeats just around the corner and was a treat then just to get a pizza and a pint. 14 years on its still a treat, great pint of Guinness and the food is typically pub grub, no frills, no style but full of taste and value for money. Great to see consistency but has potential to be do much better
