“absolutely fabulous!”
Reviewed May 26, 2014

Did the three course set meal for 25 euros and the food far exceed my expectations. Quirky and charming decor aside, the staff was friendly and helpful and the food was superb. I am looking for an Atlantic chowder recipe which I can make to rival the starter I had. The main was chicken with mash complimented by a very tasty sauce and the mini-desserts were the cherry on the cake of a great dinner. My favourite restaurant in Galway.

“Great food”
Reviewed May 21, 2014

The menu was as always varied with some great choices. Nothing better than being tucked into a little corner overlooking the main street. Excellent service. So glad we stumbled upon this treat of an experience.

“Food & staff great, but manager (? proprietor) very rude”
Reviewed May 10, 2014

I was one of a group of colleagues out for dinner here. A few were running late, all doctors who had got caught up at work. The Irish are very relaxed about time-keeping for social events, and it works both ways - making a fuss if having to wait for a table would be regarded as very rude.

In spite of being assured by the host that the stragglers were definitely coming, the manager (some thought him to be the proprietor) insisted on removing 4 seats and re-organising the tables - so when the rest of the party showed up, the waiting staff had to re-assemble the table & chairs!

The (female) waiting staff more than made up for the ignorant behaviour of their "superior" - and the food & wine was lovely.

I probably will go back - but if you want a pleasant evening, make sure no-one from your party is late - even if they are dealing with an emergency....

“Wow too good to miss”
Reviewed May 1, 2014

Don't be put off because you can't see inside from the street. We ask some people leaving the restaurant if it was good and they said very, so off we went.

The food to die for, service great and the price very good. We would definitely go back again and again. I had the mackerel for starters which just made your mouth water as did the main and lovely presented desert.

You would be mad to overlook this one.

“Great food, great location and great value”
Reviewed April 22, 2014

Had a wonderful lunch in Artisan on Saturday of the Easter Bank Holiday weekend. The food, service and value for money was exceptional. Matt and his team have a wonderful product and I would highly recommend this restaurant for lunch or dinner and one of the best wine lists in the city. The sun was shining so after lunch we moved to a table downstairs to drink more gorgeous wine and watch the world go by in the best seats on Quay St. Put it on your bucket list if you visit Galway!
