Granted, we were lucky enough to be visiting the Galway area during the recent unexpectedly warm and sunny weather, so it helped that we got to experience Da Roberta's food while sitting at a nice table outside. The first hint that we got that it was going to be a great experience came from a young guy from Brazil who was just leaving; he was very enthusiastic about his experience. We ordered a simple pizza (Luisa) and salad, plus a beer and some wine. What a terrific meal we enjoyed! Truly, the pizza reminded us both of a delicious one we'd savored in Trastavere, Rome -- relatively thin but chewy crust, just enough sauce and cheese, plus lovely sun-dried tomatoes. The salad was simple, rocket with cherry tomatoes and fresh shaved parmesan and a nice, not too heavy, dressing -- delectable. We were charmed by Alessandro "Alex," our waiter, who's truly Italian and a real pro. We met the new owner, who'd just taken possession four days earlier, and wished him well. Despite being in a tourist area, the price was very fair. I imagine that the locals must love this place.
