“Beautiful views of Galway Bay”
Reviewed June 27, 2013

This lovely B&B is just a shortish walk from the old town Galway and the esplanade fronting Galway Bay. Great hosts and beautiful rooms. Outstanding breakfast and very comfortable rooms. If you don't know Galway, this place can be a challenge to find, but once there, everything in Galway is within walking distance if you enjoy walking. Nothing like walking along Galway with a soft rain to keep you company!

Irish Tourism booked a stay for us at The Dormers as part of a package tour. First impressions were not good as the place was not that easy to find. Inspection of the room and facilities confirmed our fears. Tired, dated, run down, tiny cramped ensuite, and generally well below traveller expectations after enjoying quality B&B's through Ireland. We cancelled and went elsewhere. Much superior accommodation for reasonable prices was easily found in the same area through a quick online search. We went elsewhere and found a gem in the same area. Bad marks Irish Tourism for this one ! (But to their credit they did respond quickly to my concerns). Give it a miss.

Room Tip: Dont ! There are other choices nearby in the Sandhills area,

Unfortunately we weren't over impressed with this B & B. The room was small with hardly any hanging space for clothes. The ensuite was a joke - it was put into what could only be explained as a wardrobe. Hardly any room in the shower and the sink was tiny. The bed was comfortable, but because the room has dormer windows it is very small. The breakfast was OK - rather over done for our liking, the scrambled eggs were rubbery and the bacon far too overcooked. Its position just round the corner from the sea front in Salthills is perfect. It is about a 10-15 minute into the centre of Galway, which is lovely. We arrived (without knowing) when the Round the World Yacht Race had just finished, so the atmosphere was electric for the whole time we were there.

Room Tip: Ask for a ground floor room

Nice B&B in a great location for seeing Galway. Maureen is an excellent hostess who made us feel very welcome and was very helpful. The Dormers is nicely furnished. Our room was comfortable and quiet. Breakfast was very good. We would recommend this B&B to anyone visiting the Galway area.

We enjoyed our stay at the B&B and can't brag enough about the breakfasts! Now that I'm home, I'm really missing those scones! This location was very handy because it was a five -minute walk to the nearest grocery and ATM. Our hostess also helped arrange for a tour bus to pick us up right outside the B&B for the trip to the ferry for the Aran Islands. We also enjoyed walking on the beach.

The room was very nice decorated and clean. The beds were really comfortable and the bathroom was clean. Maureen is an awful nice person and very thoughtful. And the breakfast was the best we had during our time in Irland! The guesthousse is situated close to the beach and in walking distance (10 min.) to the town. We hope to come back again one day!

We stayed here on our last 2 nights in Ireland. it is in walking distance to both Salthill and Galway. I was glad to park a walk for a change. Maureen is helpful and a delight to talk to. Place is neat and clean.
