Food is excellent and there is more than enough for breakfast. The rooms are clean and comfortable. But most of all, the owners, Don and Mary, are complete champion. Its worth the stay just to have a bit of banter with him. Hilarious guy, great stories and will make your trip in Galway SO much better, especially for young people. He completely looked after our group. Will definitely be staying there again!

Stayed in room three. No problems with hot water, very quiet and bed was very clean. The room could do with a lick of paint but for the cost and location it was good value. The landlord Don was a right character. His language was a bit risky but i think this was not abusive, it was just his vocabulary. Mary the landlady was a very nice person and I would go back again if i was ever in Galway

I stayed at Deacy's with my wife during our recent trip to Galway in February 2010, and I have to say that it was quite a disappointment, despite the fact that the owners were so nice. Perhaps they will read this and make the necessary improvements rather than merely see this review as pejorative.

Temperature:
The room was freezing cold when we arrived and remained so throughout the night and into the morning. Though the heat was on, the room never heated up and my wife and I had to take blankets off of the other bed in the room just to stay moderately warm.

Cleanliness:
Unfortunately, the room was rather dirty, though the bed and the linens were clean. There was dust and dirt on the floor along the walls, behind the bed, near furniture, and behind the door when it was closed. The shower had a lot of mildew stains, the paint in the bathroom was peeling and chipped, and the floor along the bathroom walls was dirty.

The bed:
The bed was comfortable enough, though the pillows were abnormally thick and hard and made it impossible to sleep well. We both woke up with neck pain, and we're only in our twenties!

The shower:
The water started out hot, then 30 seconds after the shower began, the water turned frigid and my wife had to jump out of the shower and towel off. It never got hot again, so we were unable to shower. There was also no hot water for me to shave.

The breakfast:
No black or white pudding! Our traditional Irish breakfast lacked one of the most traditional Irish elements, and consisted of eggs over easy, two rashers, two sausages, tea/coffee, juice, cereal, and toast. Would have been nice to have the puddings.

The hosts:
They were both really, really nice so it's hard to write this review, but sadly their niceness did not heat the room, nor did it clean it or make the pillows comfortable. Though a bargain at 55E for a night, I would have gladly paid more to actually sleep!
