We ate here during a day trip from Dublin to Galway. The service was excellent and so was the food. The Rib-Eye was superb and the vegetarian dish for my daughter was also extremely good quality and tasty. A very reasonably priced restaurant for the quality of food served. Would use again if in Galway.

Recently dined in the Malt House Restaurant during two-night stay in Galway and I have to say it's right up there with some of the best restaurants I have had the pleasure of wining and dining in!! After reading the varied and mouth-watering starters and mains on the menu (menus were posted in the adjoining pub The King's Head where we had spot of lunch that day) we dropped into the restaurant to enquire about booking a table that night.

The restaurant's 'a la carte menu' also includes a 'value saver' menu, available all night long - whereas many other restaurants offer the early birds from 5-7pm. The VS options are just €24 for two courses (including the rib eye steaks without a supplement) or €29 for three courses.

We both opted for the boneless pork ribs for starters - served with barbeque sauce apple and sweet corn salad they tickled all the taste buds.....followed by char-grilled rib eye steak with homemade chips, maple roasted carrots and parships, accompanied by not too much Irish whiskey and mushroom sauce (some restaurants have habit of smothering their dishes with sauce, thus ruining the flavour - not the Malt House!); and the fillet of hake was cooked to perfection, and it came on a bed of pearl barley, celeriace and pumpkin risotto with kale verde on the side.....in one word 'yummylicious'!!

The desserts are to die for - in particular the pumpkin bakewell tart with vanilla mascarpone and honeycomb ice-cream......so best tip is to make some room for third course. You won't feel stuffed and bloated after all that...but rather more quietly satisfied due to the quality of food :-)

Great selection of meat, fish and vegetarian options on both starters and mains. Also, they offer good variety on wines and beers - wines available by glass or bottle and not over the top on price range either.

Good atmosphere in this place which is very spacious so no matter how many people dining, there's plenty of room for everyone and your conversation won't be drowned out by noise from other tables.

Check out the Malt House website for details of their lunchand dinner menus www.themalthouse.ie. And I'm looking forward to return visit next time I'm in the City of the Tribes.

Having eaten here on a few occasions, we have never been let down. The staff are friendly and attentive, the restaurant is relaxed with some nice decor, particularly the plates from around the world on the wall. We have dined here for a birthday, graduation and as a couple; each time better than the rest. The starter boneless pork ribs are amazing and the sauce that accompanies them is even better. On our last visit, I had the monk fish, which was cooked perfectly with mixed mushrooms, toasted pine nuts, and I believe some sort of pudding which complimented each other brilliantly, my partner had the steak, and she thoroughly enjoyed. We are not much for deserts, but on our first visit, we were giving a free desert (chocolate fondant) on the house for the birthday boy which was melt in the mouth and a real nice touch from the staff. I love going to this restaurant and I hope to never have a bad meal in the place.

We stumbled upon this place while wandering in Galway. We stopped for lunch and were blown away by the standard of food for the price. The restaurant was so modern and pretty, staff were friendly but not overbearing, and the value for money was exceptional. It is a pity we were not in Galway longer to eat there again!
