Kathleen was an excellent hostess. It began with her personalized taxi service from the bus station to her home, followed by a ride to Salthill. Kathleen made phone calls on our behalf as well as suggestions about experiencing Galway. Kathleen asked us when we wanted breakfast and what special considerations we needed. The bedroom and home were immaculate, including fresh duvet covers. We had a great experience with Kathleen! We would stay with her again in a moment! Angie & Kim

Room Tip: We had a bedroom in the front of the house which proved to be quiet.

We selected this B & B from the Tourist Board website for our first visit to Galway and were not disappointed. The en - suite bedroom was spotlessly clean, comfortable and well appointed and breakfast was taken in the lounge-diner. Breakfast was either continental style with choice of cereals and toast or a pre ordered cooked breakfast. The property, in a quiet location, was about 12 minutes easy (level ) walk from the town and the sea front was even closer which allowed further easy walking.

I live in Ireland and I stayied at many B&B all around the country. But this one is absolutely the best. Kathleen was so kind, welcoming and helpful.. It was a pleasure to talk to her! She will be happy to give piece of advice about the city and the county,The B&B is very clean, comfortable, lovely and typically Irish. Galway city center is a short distance walking. The area is quiet and you can sleep very well. Delicious and plentiful breakfast. The owners will kindly welcome you in a beautiful and tidy house. The bedrooms are spacious, with kettles, coffe, tea, hair-drier, television and other facilities. Therefore I strongly recommend you to go there because my time at Abhòg was great!

The rooms were clean and comfortable enough, but although the rooms are non-smoking, the house is not. We arrived to the overwhelming smell of fresh cigarette smoke, as the hostess, her daughter and friends were in the "common area" and kitchen smoking and watching the hurling match. Had we not been exhausted from having just arrived that morning and driving from Dublin, we may have left to search out other accomodations. Kathleen was pleasant enough upon our arrival, but she has a lot of rules about staying with her...for example, no use of the bathroom fan after 10pm, which is connected to the main overhead light, so that may be challenging for some...like us, as our shaving light over the sink did not work. She shared a story about an interaction about this rule with a previous guest that could have been offended some. The smoking did not stop with the hurling match, and was the first thing that greeted us upon awakening the next morning. Breakfast was good, and conversation with Kathleen was a bit more pleasant than our arrival conversation.

This B&B is beautiful: my rooms was big, clean, cozy and everything is immaculate!
Kat is a fabolous host, with her smile and her sweetness your holidays will become simply fantastic. She's very flexible to prepare breakfast and she prepares what you want ...
The B & B is located near the center of town, about a 10 minute walk you can reach the main attractions of Galway and it's about 15 minutes from the bus station where you can take the bus to Cliffs of Moher, Araran Island, Connemara etcc ...
The neighborhood where the B & B is quiet and there are no problems to walk back the night.
Amazing experience!

We visited Ireland for 3 weeks and stayed in many B&B with mostly good experiences. But this one was our favorite. The owners are both kind and they went out of their way to please us. We can't recommend them highly enough.

I have been staying at the Abhog Bed and Breakfast since I visited with my parents in 2000 and as recent as this past September (2011) with my husband and friends. With an easy 1 hr 20 mins ride from/to Shannon Airport, and perfectly situated in a lovely neighbourhood (that offers a quick 10 minute sidewalk-walk to historic downtown) you cannot lose.

The rooms are lovely, clean and bright - you'll be offered a cup of tea upon arrival and find the breakfast just what you need for a good day's journey around the countryside. Kathleen, the Owner/Proprietress, has excellent and realistic suggestions for jaunts out and about.

If able, give a quick check-in ring a few days prior to arrival to confirm your arrival time. All in all - you are proper hands at the Abhog.
