Lynden Bed & Breakfast
Ranked #4 of 20 Dun Laoghaire B&B and Inns
Reviewed August 6, 2013

This is the second time we stayed at the Lynden Bed & Breakfast. We originally found it in a Rick Steves Ireland book and stayed for a few nights at the start of a driving trip around Ireland several years ago. This year we decided to spend five nights in Dun Laoghaire before going to Scotland. We took the bus from the Dublin Airport and that worked very well. As before, Maria and her husband were very welcoming and helpful with suggestions for day trips in the area. The breakfasts are wonderful and the other guests always very friendly. When we left very early to go to the airport, Maria had put together a breakfast bag to go, with scones, fruit, yogurt and waters. A delightful place we'd recommend to anyone visiting the area.

Room Tip: There are two rooms that are en suite, and the other rooms share beautiful baths.

We stayed with Maria for three nights. The rooms although very basic were comfortable and had everything that we were looking for. We took the train into Dublin two days and the ride up to Dublin was very pretty. The beds were very comfortable, and Inn not noisy at all. We had booked three rooms all or more than satisfactory. This is a restored 1800s era house not as some people describe it as an old house. There is some parking on-site. There is Wi-Fi but no telephones and the in room televisions were basic. That didn't matter to us we were in Ireland to see Ireland not to watch TV. The common areas were very comfortable and Maria was very helpful. The breakfast which was included in the pricewas very good.

Room Tip: this is a B & B not a flashy five-star hotel. Very comfortable, and Maria was very helpful.

We had arranged to arrive early and leave our car so we could take the Dart in to Dublin. We arrived at 1 pm and rang the bell just to explain the arrangement but Steve insisted that our room was nearly ready and that we should come in and have a cuppa while they finished it off. We then had a very interesting 30 mins tour of the interesting artifacts he has collected over the years. Its a large comfortable Georgian house and our room was more than adequate. The fittings are quite old but everything worked and we had a good nights sleep. The Dart station is just a 10 min walk away and it takes about 30 mins to get to the centre of Dublin. in the morning we had a lovely breakfast and then its just a 5 min drive to the ferry to Holyhead so really convemient. It was a excellent location for visiting Dublin and the ferry, and if you are looking for a basic place with lovely hosts, good food, and not too expensive this is it.

We stayed 3 nights with Maria & Stephen at Lynden BnB. We were delighted with every day and night of our stay. We arrived a little early and Stephen very graciously provided tea and biscuits which revived us for a stroll around the city. When we returned we were shown to a very lovely room in the front. Exceptionally well located to catch the Dart for trips into Dublin. If we ever get the opportunity to come to this area of Ireland again Lynden BnB will be our 1st choice for a quality room and quality hosts.

Room Tip: If en-suite is important - be sure to I include that in your request - there are multiple sizes and...

We were warmly welcomed by our hostess Maria when we arrived after a harried day of driving. The B&B was clean and welcoming. Maria worked very hard to provide us with any help or suggestions. Breakfast was very large and very delicious. The neighborhood walking to the pub was a little run down and sketchy, but the pub food was the best we had our entire trip.
It's a tidy little B&B, and I would rate it a 3 star establishment.

Was given a great welcome. Very nice hostess with maps and information on places to eat. Fantastic breakfast. B & B very close to Dun Laoghaire centre with ferry, dart, bus services etc., to Dublin. Although room was on the small side it had everything you needed and was very quiet.
