lovely walks and very nice area to visit. The whole area is lovely and well worth a visit. Did not dislike any part of the area we were blessed with good weather which makes walking near the sea so enjoyable.

After Southend pier which you can't walk, the west and east pier are the 2nd and 3rd largest piers in the world. The East pier is the more favoured as it is more accessible and central to Dunlaoghaire. As you start your walk, the statistics are displayed as are the birds you can view. There is an used bandstand about a third of the way down As you walk the upper pier there is a memorial to a local sea disaster and information on wind direction and strength. At the very end there is a disuse lighthouse which opens betimes in summer as a cafe. the pier faces due north and the Howth peninsular is clearly visible. To the East you can see the Kish lighthouse 8 miles away. at the end there are views all the way to Sandycove and you have a grerat view back to Dun Laoghaire and Scotsman's Bay. The longer western pier has vieews into Dublin Bay. My major criticism is the lack of toilets, a hardship for many.

If you like a level walk along by the sea while passing hundreds of people and many dogs then this is for you! I only walk it with friends as I find the same route up and down rather boring! Maybe irs because there are more interesting seaside walks in the area. The worst aspect is the fact that Dun Laoghaire Harbour charge you to park at €2 per hour! I object to paying for parking at what should be a free public amenity!

Bright, Clean and full of history. Buy a Teddy's 99 and enjoy the views, particularly of Seals and Dolphins towards Sandy Cove
