“Great food but too noisy”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 13, 2012

I agree, the food is really good, a good choice of pizza's and Italian dishes. But the last two times I went there, it was just too noisy because of busy kids. When it first opened I went there in the evening and it was cosy and warm but then I went there twice at noon and it was like a kindergarden. My parents stayed in the hotel and therefore ate there regularly and they had the same remarks. The food is really good but if you pay for dining out, you want at least a bit of peace.

Hi

Thanks for the online posting and glad to read that the food and ambience is really good. The comments on the kids and subsequent noise is a difficult area. We love families dining in Oliveto but don't specifically market ourselves for families i.e. we have no kids menu. We love families enjoying Oliveto but share in our guests frustrations if the parents allow the kids to run around freely and effectively "switch off" to the disturbance their kids are creating to our other guests. We try very hard to manage this but ultimately it is up to the parents.

We do now allow young children in the restaurant after 8pm on any evening as we want a restaurant that adults can come to and enjoy the ambience, food and cocktails so I hope you'll return one evening to dine with Oliveto.

Thanks, Fla (Owner)

“Olivetto has nailed it!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 10, 2012

Returning after a few months to a Busy bar for cocktails and a bustling dining room. The glow of the pizza oven and a place full of regulars. Great food, service and atmosphere. It's a regular stop for us and have booked the entire family for Christmas eve!

“Great food and great atmosphere”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 12, 2012 via mobile

Ate here mid week, the restaurant was full up, a good sign, and they were still able to find a table for me.

Menu arrived instantly, a great selection, also a good wine list with house wines by the glass, carafe or bottle

Food was first class and great value, there are many Italian restaurants in Dublin and this is one of the best

Personally I didn't find the service slow. I didn't have to wait long between courses and my waiter couldn't have been more pleasant.

There's a great atmosphere here and i will be back for sure, a great restaurant in a beautiful location

“Fab venue”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 8, 2012

We recently had a family occasion-( a christening) and had it in the private function room of oilveto. We met with the owner who helped us choose the menu for the day. He was both informative and knowledgeable about the choice of Italian courses and the wine recommendations. It was great to know that the event was in good hands and with a new baby it was one less thing that I had to worry about. The private function room was fab. We had a beautiful room with an amazing view looking out over Dun Laoghaire pier and the surrounding area. The member of staff that looked after us on the day was courteous, professional and a real character. We were able to relax and there was no rush for us to be out by a certain time. The food was of a very high standard and very nicely presented. There are many Italian restaurants in Dublin but nothing compares to this little gem for quality, presentation and service. Thanks Oilveto for making our day special!!

“The long wait!!!!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 18, 2012

well we went down last month (only getting down to writing it up now) hadnt been here since it moved. Found the manager very off hand and dismissed us to a table out of the way we were definatly not being allowed a window table!! even thougth one stayed empty for over an hour or so while we were there.

Had a good wait for a menu then to order our waitress then a waiter there seemed to be two of them waiting on us over the evening were very nice and polite but very definatly over worked because we had a hard time to catch their eye if we wanted them. we felt they had to do a hard sell on wine we were asked four!!! times if we would like to order some....

Now our food was really good but if diners are going to have to wait for so long they should really put something down on the table to pick at... the time in the restaurant was probably more than we would have liked to have spent out .

we will go back but hope thay will look at all these reviews saying about the time delay in their restaurant... not the place togo for a quick bite...
