We went there as a group of eight for a special night out. The place is full of charm and character and the staff are good fun and professional. But the food was really pretty average. We are a bunch of food lovers and we tasted each other's food and shared our opinions and generally were underwhelmed. It felt a bit like they are living off reputation from when that standard of Italian may have been considered high end. If you have eaten in Italy, or in more up to date Italian places you may find the sauces a bit "d'olmio". It is old fashioned and in many ways this is great (staff, service, charm) but the food is old fashioned Irish Italian (heavy sauces, bland, not great quality ingredients). I really wanted to love the experience but came away just loving the environment and my friends but not the food which is not cheap. I'd love someone with a fresh eye to come in and inject a bit of life into the cooking. Then it would be top of my list to recommend
