“The decor and the stairs make this restaurant”

The food is beautiful displayed on the plate, and it look and tastes out of this world. The early bird menu is great value and worth a visit any time of the evening.

“would not go again”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 9, 2013

We went here to celebrate a graduation some time ago, and I have to say that I have my least favourite meal of all time at Purple Ocean. The food was served luke warm, the dishes were very average and the dessert was horrible. The interior of the restaurant was also totally outdated and not very inviting. It appeared to me that the only reason this restaurant still does business is because of the location and view from it.

Reading reviews of people who have been more recently than I, it would seem that they've done up the interior, however i'd be interested to know whether they are still serving the same awful food! The other restaurant on the road in a lot nice than Purple Ocean, iwth a much better atmosphere.

“Unique restaurant with excellant food and service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 30, 2012

Have visited Purple Ocean a few times before as we often visit some friends in DunLaoghaire who dine here all the time. They told us it had recently been renovated, as we were staying in the area we said we would give it a go. The new layout is a great improvement, and must be one of the most unique restaurants i've been to, so many restaurants are found in small pokey places this one is spacious and stylish. Myself and my husband really enjoyed the food, especially the seafood for me! Found the service great too, very informative. Would recommend this restaruant and will return again ourselves when in the area again.

“Organised dinner”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 27, 2012

We dined here with a group of about 40 people in October. The menu was arranged (with 2/3 choices per course). I must say that the quality was correct but not exceptional.
The house wine(s) were however very good.
Location with a good view I guess (but it was already dark when we arrived)

“lovely food, lovely place”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 21, 2012

i went here in september wih my hubby with voucher.nice decor and intimate setting-didnt get the views but will ask for window table next time.i had the scallops for starter -a bit disappointing, they had been sliced in half horizontally so were thin srtps of scallops, there was a truffle oil dressing but not much of it and served with a clumsy salad(chunks of cucumber, under ripe tomatoes and red onion-not presented well and salad overpowered the scallops) would have been disappointed if paying full price at €10.hubby had garlic tiger prawns, very tasty but not much portion if paying full price.conversely -the mains were amazing and well worth full price!hubby had seafood platter which was huge!salmon fillet, sea bream fillet, scallops, tiger prawns, mussels, calamari, served with lemon butter and a side(about €23 full price)i had tournedos rossini(2 4oz fillets with pate, wrapped in smoked bacon with large crouton and served with an amazing sauce(pergourdine?)served with side(about €26).desserts were fine.washed down with a lovely bottle of chenin blanc
