Description: Montys of Kathmandu, a multi-award winning Nepalese Restaurant in the heart of Dublin's Cultural quarter and now more recently, in the leafy suburbs of Rathgar. Montys is the first Nepalese Restaurant ever to open in Ireland specialising in the beautiful food from the Himalayan Kingdom. We make everything inhouse and do nor use any artificial additives to enhance the flavours of our food. All our chefs are natives of Nepal and it is owned by Nepalis too. We pride ourselves on giving you the customers the authentic experience, with out taking any short cuts. We source all our ingredients, where possibly locally and use the best possible available to us.

We found Monty's by chance while wandering the streets of Temple Bar. The restaurant was full of people and it had a very warm and cosy appearance. Although we could only take a table right next to the entrance, we immediately felt comfortable. The waiters were friendly and gave you the feeling that you are welcome as a "first-timer". The menu offered a good choice of Nepalese dishes and when our food arrived it was "out of this world". The chicken was so soft, juicy and tender that we could have ordered a second portion straight away. We drank a nice bottle of Argentinian Malbec, rather reasonably priced and a fine choice to go with the food. An enjoyable evening in a very atmospheric restaurant. We will be back, for sure.

This restraurant was metioned in so many travel books that we decided to try it. Considering the extremely high prices at Dublin's restaurants we decided to opt for the early bird menu, where a 3 course meal is € 21,- per person.
All 3 courses were lovely and made our first nepalese meal a great experience. We had prawns and chicken wings for starters and vegetable curry and praws for main course. The food was rather spicy and hot but tated just great. The portions were generous and the staff extremely friendly. Thanks to the tasteful asian decoration and quient atmosphere we enjoyed our meal very much.We will definitely come back next time we are in Dublin!

If you like ethnic food and you're looking for a restaurant in Dublin that is almost guaranteed to impress you then go to Monty's. Myself and my wife love food and go for dinner very regularly. We live in Dublin and even though we've tried nearly all the other "nice" restaurants in the city, we end up going to Monty's once every 4-6 weeks and have never once had a single complaint with it. The food is fantastic and unlike Indian which can be oily and have too much sauce, it seems to be all grilled so you never get that bloated stodgy feeling afterwards. You can also taste the meat because the sauces are a bit milder and not drowning the food. The naans are unbelievable. The portions are spot on, especially the tandoori mixed grill. Shiva, the owner has huge amount of knowledge about wines and the selection is excellent. I can't for the life of me understand the complaints of some of the other reviewers. I've been to Monty's at least 20 times now over the past few years and would have quite high (but not unreasonable) expectations about service, food, atmosphere etc. you could go in here in jeans and a t shirt or a suit and feel relaxed and know that the food will be fresh and extremely tasty and you'll leave full. the staff have always been pleasant and very attentive. Top of the list for me and everybody I've ever brought there (including Indians!!) loved it

This is my favourite restaurant in Dublin. It is located in Templebar. The food is excellant, as is the wine list. The mixed tandoori grill for main and squid for starter are what I would recommend. The peshawari nan is delicious. The staff are very welcoming and efficient. The atmosphere at weekends is great too. No other ethnic restaurant in Ireland comes close and I have been to alot of them. Give it a try, you won't regret it.
