On our first night in Ireland we were referred to the Bull and Castle by a local and we tried twice to get in but was full being the week-end, but finally on the second night had drinks upstairs and was so well treated, the bar man knew his whiskeys and had us try a few ones we did not know and he found us a small table tucked away in a corner . We had really good food, scallops and a steak and a cheese plate which was full of tasty local cheese. The barman suggested a wonderful porter beer to go with the cheese which was a new experience but which we will repeat. On the way out the Manager gave us the name of a real irish pub ( no tourists) to have a final drink, plus wonderful advice on places to eat on our next stops around Ireland.
