“Authentic, charming, French”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 22, 2013 via mobile

Had a lovely meal here the other day. Very stereotypical French food, escargot, frog legs, cassoulet... It was very nice, lovely wine. All staff seemed to be French and were very attentive. Booking advised as there aren't a lot of covers. For visitors, great central location too

“Favourite restaurant”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 13, 2013

This is my favourite restaurant in Dublin. Love the ambiance and staff are always charming. We both had cod the other day which was really good. Portions appeared small but were exactly right.

“Non Event - When is a reservation a reservation???”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 24, 2012

My family had a 4pm reservation for lunch on Christmas Eve & turned up on time to be quickly ushered out of the restaurant because there was'nt a table for us. After a few minutes sitting outside in the cold we were given menus and advised of a list of dishes that were sold out.........not exactly a welcoming or positive experience. We sat in the cold for 20 minutes & then left & were accomodated by a nearby restaurant.
I completely understand how busy Christmas Eve is but the time of our reservation was the only one offered by the restaurant & they still failed to accomodate us & to make matters worse there was no effort made to either explain the situation never mind apologise.
You would get better customer service in a backstreet fast food joint.
A really poor experience.

“La Vie est belle.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 20, 2012

This is a petit gem of a restaurant,Its location is nestled under the gates of the historic Dublin Castle which also is a must to savour,
Even from the outside it is so inviting with tables and chairs under a canopy ,so romantic and French.
It was a cold night outside and we were ushered into a warm comfy cosy room full, of atmosphere with delicious smells wafting from a visible kitchen.
I opted for the French onion soup,[ my fave ]and my companion had a delicious gooey cheese with assorted hot breads to dip.
For mains, we shared mussels and a beautifully cooked halibut with plenty of veggies on the side.
Desserts were a dream though I relented and had tiramasu. Yum as Rachel Allen would say!
I t was a wonderful meal, great atmosphere, nice background music and situated close to Temple Bar and all the hot spots.
