Beautiful bar upstairs with great cocktails. Restaurant downstairs is lovely and service very good. Food extremely average and expensive. Wine also expensive.

Many thanks for taking the time to share your feedback with us.

We love hearing from our customers and it is lovely to receive the great comments regarding our venue, décor, cocktails and service.

It is with regret to hear that you believe our food to be average and expensive. We do our utmost to ensure that our locally sourced artisan food is of the highest quality. We also invest a huge amount of time and research into our extensive wine list to provide the best value for our customers.

We are grateful for you sharing your opinion and would love to see you back at some stage for better ely gastro pub experience.

Kind Regards,

This was recommended by our hotel manager as somewhere that did meat, fish and veggie options. The place was packed and buzzing, we were taken aback but we were welcomed and soon found a table of two. It was not a huge menu but we always take that as a good sign, what is coming will be fresh. The veggie option was not to my taste so I plumped for a special; sea bream with crushed new pots, mashed squash and broccoli puree. Himself, rib eye, his first steak in Dublin. Neither of us were disappointed. Mine was a great combination of flavours, his meat just right and believe me he is fussy on his red meat. Accompanied by a nice bottle of wine, at 30 euros I thought slightly on the high side but by then we had learnt that Dublin was pricey so I am sure that was normal. All the staff were friendly and the atmosphere was good. If you want something that is not the everything with chips choices the pubs have but is not the pricier brassiere option, this would fit the bill.

Had a lovely pre theatre meal -prawn and salmon starter with guinNess bread , followed by sea bream. The waitress asked if we would like our sweets after the show we were going to.We agreed and they kept our table for us.It was a bit unusual eating a sweet at midnight but it was the highlight of the meal - delicious cheesecake.

Thank your for taking the time to share your positive experience with us. We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed your pre-theatre meal with us.

Our Pudding Club hugely popular with theatre goers. Our customers love that you can have dinner before the show and come back afterwards for desserts and drinks.

We hope to see you again soon.

Recently met with two more couples for drinks and food. Shockingly overpriced drink along with disappointing meals left us somewhat surprised as to how busy the bar/restaurant was. Three of the six mains were served on what appeared to be cold plates. And while one of our party had his meal returned for a reheat others decided to put up with what they had. You see we Irish still feel it difficult to demand proper food and service! Be mindful of the price of all your drinks while ordering, wine by the glass is overpriced along with draught beers. No mid-strength Guinness available along with another popular branded white wine spritzer, ok I accept it prides itself on the wine menu. So along with poor parking options the Ely I believe offers poor value along with mediocre food. Also service charge for party of 6 or more is 12.5%! The positives are that the Ely bar area was high on atmosphere and the dining tables well positioned and comfortable.

Dear Guest,

We very much appreciate you taking the time to provide us with some feedback of your recent experience with us.

We are deeply sorry to hear that some members of your party were disappointed. Please accept our sincerest apologies. All our food is cooked to order and should always be served at the appropriate temperature. Had you alerted a member of staff on the evening, we would have rectified the situation immediately. However, we appreciate that you should never have been in a position to have to do so. We also would have promptly removed the 12.5% service charge for 6 parties or had we realised the extent of your dissatisfaction.

We regret that you found our wine menu to be over priced. As you mentioned, we do pride ourselves on our wine list but also on our wine drinking customers. A huge amount of research and sourcing goes into every red and white wine that we stock. This is to ensure that we bring the customer the very best quality wine for value.

Thank you for the positive comments regarding our venue. Should you wish to discuss this matter in person please contact me on 01-633 99 86.

Kind Regards,

Jeri Mahon

Went to Ely Gastro Pub last week. We had booked a table in advance. No issues with the booking; table ready when we arrived. The service was efficient. The food was fine, but was definitely in line with the name of the pub.. it's a gastro pub serving pub grub. We went there as a business group. The pub was too noisy. Loud music playing at a level that meant is was difficult for us to talk. Not sure why some places think that the louder the music is, the more atmosphere they have - that's not the case...! Anyway, I'd describe the whole experience as "fine". Not sure if I'd go back again. Might try it for Sunday lunch or for some other purpose, but I don't expect to go back for any business-related occasion in the future.

Thank you very for taking the time to write of your recent experience here at ely gastro pub. We always appreciate and strongly take on board all of our customers’ feedback.

We are happy to hear about your positive comments regarding our service. While we are a gastro pub, we have taken special care to ensure that your food is of the highest quality, with our organic pork and lamb coming from the proprietors’ family farm in the Burren and our vegetables fresh and locally sourced.

We regret that you felt that your experience was affected by the noise level. It was not our intention to have it raised to such a level to increase the atmosphere. We do our utmost to accommodate for business groups, be it seating them in a more private area of our restaurant or fulfilling specific requests.

We would be delighted to see you back with us soon and once again thank you for your comments.

Kind Regards,

Jeri Mahon
