Neighborhood: South City Centre
Description: Located at 64A South William Street this beautiful and solely candle lit wine cavern has been stripped back to its original features. As a traditional Spanish tapas bar it boasts a fantastic selection of authentic tapas. The Port House wine menu is varied and full of interesting wines, ports and sherries at a very reasonable price, carefully selected from Spanish and Portuguese regions. It is the ideal place for one to relax, enjoy some tapas with a glass of wine and soak up the ambiance that makes this spot a must try.

“So Many Plates - so Little Time”
Reviewed June 14, 2013

We were in Dublin last week and were walking around the Temple Bar area and wanted a smaller sized meal. Pub food is great but not every night so we happened upon Port House which has two locations in this area..another one on Eustace. The portions sizes are perfect - all tapas so we ordered three plates, the potatas bravas, a chicken dish (there are several) and grilled asparagus plus a wonderful wine from Portugal. Serving sizes are perfect for two people and will not make you feel full.
I loved the ambiance of this spot. It's modern rustic with candles everywhere. the original stone walls are right there to be enjoyed but modern additions such as metal and wood have been added. The place is really busy and hip...and intimate. Service was good but to get your bill you have to get there attention or else they really won't come by. It's a compact space so be aware you may be sitting right next to be - very close.
And - the toilets are thrones. No really - they are thrones. There is a pull chain too. There is an outdoor space for smokers that is covered. We got seated there for dessert one night and didn't realize there were smokers out there because you don't expect it in the covered space. So be aware of that.
Anyway - if you are looking for something other than pub food this place is a great diversion. We kept the menu for our our dining ideas.

“Good authentic tapas in friendly surroundings”
Reviewed June 12, 2013 via mobile

Port house is located centrally and a great spot for a night out with friends or an informal business group. Authentic tapas and good Spanish wine combine with great service and atmosphere for a fun experience.

“Average experience, nothing sensational.”
Reviewed June 10, 2013

I found this quite small tapas restaurant in temple bar not bad actually.

My friend and I shared 6 beers and about 8/9 dishes for about €80, which considering the (expensive) beers were €30 I thought that was ok value.

Tapas is not my favoured style of dining for a number of reasons, none of which I feel the need to share with you now. This experience was one of the better tapas I have experienced but even so still managed to offer us some tepid dishes and one that needed returning.

The service, given that the place had filled nicely since we had arrived, was also ok. The two young ladies did a good job, but unfortunately the lasting memory of the service, will be of the abrupt nature of the delivery of the dishes, by a heavy-handed male server.

All up, not bad, I'd return, but will be trying an Indian Tapas restaurant, (which sounds great), before I do.

“Recommended tapas restaurant”
Reviewed June 9, 2013

Me and my sister wanted to find a tapas restarant in Dublin, and it seemed we didn't have many choices. We landed om The Port House after searching Tripadvisor, and we're very happy with our choice! The atmosphere was cozy and relaxed, and the food was amazing. We sat there for 2 1/2 hours and ate and drank. The only negative bit was that we ordered way too much food - the waitress should have warned us.
