We were in Dublin last week and were walking around the Temple Bar area and wanted a smaller sized meal. Pub food is great but not every night so we happened upon Port House which has two locations in this area..another one on Eustace. The portions sizes are perfect - all tapas so we ordered three plates, the potatas bravas, a chicken dish (there are several) and grilled asparagus plus a wonderful wine from Portugal. Serving sizes are perfect for two people and will not make you feel full.
I loved the ambiance of this spot. It's modern rustic with candles everywhere. the original stone walls are right there to be enjoyed but modern additions such as metal and wood have been added. The place is really busy and hip...and intimate. Service was good but to get your bill you have to get there attention or else they really won't come by. It's a compact space so be aware you may be sitting right next to be - very close.
And - the toilets are thrones. No really - they are thrones. There is a pull chain too. There is an outdoor space for smokers that is covered. We got seated there for dessert one night and didn't realize there were smokers out there because you don't expect it in the covered space. So be aware of that.
Anyway - if you are looking for something other than pub food this place is a great diversion. We kept the menu for our our dining ideas.
