I am a big fan of D&C having eaten there plenty of times, twice so far this year. This restaurant is doing very well, they were originally one shop, premises, and over time have expanded to be 4 adjoining premises (one being the newly opened shop).
D&C offer lighter bites during the day, with more antipasti, bruscetta and mozzarella bar for lunch with heavier and meatier meals added in the evening. The wine list is exclusively Italian and has some lovely wines, even by the glass the wine is great, I had a glass of Sardinian red today which was great.
The service is usually good, but they are mostly Italian and sometimes there can be misunderstandings.
I ate there today with my wife and daughter and noted a couple of small points:
I ordered a 1 litre bottle of sparkling water from the menu and what arrived was 750ml.
I ordered a scoop of ice cream for my daughter for dessert and got a scoop, but when the bill came it was for "children's 2 scoops", if I was going to be charge for 2 scoops anyway perhaps I should've been just given 2 scoops.
All in all I think D&C is one of the best Italian restaurants in Dublin but perhaps a little more care is needed.
The mozzarella is excellent, definite recommend! Also the Bertani Villa Novare Valpolicella is a very nice wine.
