Innovative and exquisite cuisine, presentation referred to as 'artwork on a plate' and service often compared to a theatrical performance make for a truly memorable experience at Thornton's Restaurant. There is attention to detail in every aspect of the experience, from the intricate food through to the impressive wine list and professional service. Our changing menu reflects the seasonal and local produce available to us and underpins our passion for reigniting the importance of the seasons. Working closely with our providers that supply us with the highest quality of ingredients, we can ensure that our produce is ethically sourced, sustainable and most importantly the best we can obtain. Head Chef and Proprietor Kevin Thornton is widely regarded as Ireland's best chef. Having featured in everything from the Irish Times to the New York Times, Thornton's is celebrated as one of the best restaurants in Ireland and is also internationally commended.

“The best restaurant in Dublin”
Reviewed February 8, 2013

It's not cheap but it great value for money. The most imaginative food, in lovely low key luxurious surroundings and makes for a truly special night. It will cost you but it is so worth it.

“Outstanding everything”
Reviewed February 3, 2013

Our experience started with an email to ask about availability for my husbands birthday. Muriel was fantastic and responded promptly to every email question that i had, Thank you Muriel. I booked a table for my husband and I for the pre-theatre menu @ 6pm.
We were the first to arrive for dinner and must admit, we were a little intimidated as there were at least 6 staff and no music at the time. The staff that were there could not be faulted and were incredibly friendly. They were attentive, friendly and personable and i felt completely at ease.
We looked over the fab menu and decided on our orders. We chose a bottle of Pinot Grigio and ordered our food. the amuse-bouche came to our table in a flourish and was a smoked mackerel with a tomato consume, it was fantastic and I'm not a fish lover.
We continued our meal and course after course was fantastic and perfectly executed. Our glasses were never left empty. during our coffee course our server brought my husband a birthday treat that was organised by Muriel.
All in all an amazing experience in Dublin.
My only thought would be to lose some of the lights and add more music to increase ambience of the restaurant. Also worth mentioning that Kevin came around to every table to ensure all were having a great night. Thanks Kevin and team for a night to remember. Check out photos of our nights,

“The best starter ....ever !”
Reviewed February 2, 2013

A fantastic food experience. From the amuse bouche to what I can safely say was the best starter I have ever tasted - King Scallop, stuffed with black truffle and a truffle mousse ..... a taste explosion. I had a taste of the wood pigeon starter which was also excellent.
For mains the Duck and Venison were fantastic with accompanying sauces which brought out the flavours in both. Good desserts and cheese board. The only negative was an extremely empty dining room but the service was very good. Overall a very memorable lunch.

“Exceptional meal”
Reviewed January 29, 2013

Loved Thorntons style of cooking. the presentation is out of this world and the service is fantastic. Went for the tasting menu which was about 9 courses from what i can remember and every course was fab. Expect to pay up on three hundred euro per couple but you wont be dissapointed if you love food and wine. well deserved star

“Michelin star, not.”
Reviewed January 23, 2013

I have dined in Michelin star restaurants across the globe and this is certainly not one. While the food was very good, the service and atmosphere was very poor. I would compare the experience to wedding reception quality...no attention to detail, no personal touch, and staff that couldn't even recommend a wine. Our water glasses weren't the only thing empty, so was the restaurant...and now I know why.
