“Mediocre food and service. Do not order their beer.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 24, 2013 via mobile

Like most restaurants in Temple Bar, The Shack was on the pricier side. However, the quality of the food and the service was not really worth the €15 per person. Maybe it was the 3-course mini meal we had, but it was just nothing special. Service was very indifferent, especially the host/manager, who rarely cracked a smile and was busy watching the football match on the computer. I ordered a beer without looking close enough at the menu, assuming that I would get a full pint for €4.75. It was a 330ml glass (not even half a pint). Albeit it was my fault for not reading the menu carefully but it still left a sour taste in my mouth, especially when you can get a full pint for the same price elsewhere. I think there are better places to go in Temple Bar, but if you're looking for a quieter, non-obtrusive atmosphere and you're not picky about food and drink size, this might be the pls e for you.

“What a wonderful surprise!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 19, 2013

We knew nothing about this restaurant, which is across the street from the famous "Temple Bar." It was outstanding and the service could be described the same way. All of us had delicious meals and felt the price was very reasonable.

“Hasty decision”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 15, 2013

Whilst visiting Temple Bar on a rainy evening we made a hasty decision and chose to eat at the Shack...to be truthful, we were only in Dublin for the weekend and I wish I'd checked out Trip Advisor before we went away as I probably would have chosen to eat elsewhere. The restaurant itself looked quite appealing from the outside but food was disappointing. Two meals had to be returned to the kitchen to be reheated as they weren't hot when served. Service itself average.

“OK for a touristy place”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 13, 2013

we where in temple bar and this place was still open so we thought we'd take a look. Food was OK but not fantastic (not bad either). They did have a good selection but portions seemed small. Atmosphere was OK and the bill didn't break the bank
