Description: Uberhip hotel part owned by Bono and The Edge from U2 who purchased it in 1992. The Clarence has played a major part in making Dublin one of the trendiest places to vist not least because of it's combination of restrained style and unparalleled luxury. The furnishings are simple and Shakeresque, but where the decor may be 'minimal' the service and luxury are anything but. Every item of furniture has been customed designed and crafted by Irish artisans - from wrought iron bedside lamps to the restored oak panelling and arts and craft style stained glass windows. if you are feeling flush or have somthing to celebrate book yourself into the sumptuous penthouse which includes a baby grand piano and an outdoor hot tub on the roof terrace with views of the river Liffey. The confusingly named Tea Room is situated in the hotels original dining room which has be completely refurbished and is light and airy. The chef is commited to producing a new style of cooking using only the best and freshest Irish produce making this one of THE best places to eat in Dublin.

This place has an astounding selection of teas for it's size. It also does great snacks (both sweet and savoury). Great atmosphere too.

We visited The Clarence on our first night in Dublin. We were pleased with the price of the two course meal there and the price of the wine (we thought it would cost a lot more to eat there).

I opted for Pan Fried Tiger Prawns with Lemon Grass and Sweet Chilli - Gorgeous, so tasty. Then I had Potato Gnocchi with wild mushrooms, caramelized onions and herbs - wonderful, taste sensation! Washed down with cold Pinot Grigio it was perfect and one of the nicest meals I have had for a while.

I would certainly recommend a visit there when in Dublin. Only one downside - we didn't bump into Bono!

Stopped by on Saturday lunch just arriving from Zurich. Very friendly employees. The Brasilian waiter was fantastic, as well as the young lady from Lithuania. Service very friendly. Lunch was simple but good. Food and wine inexpensive. Quality good. We always enjoy the athmosphere - and we've been told, that Bono and Edge will change the concept of food and the design of the Restaurant. This is good, since the Restaurant itself really needs a change.
We will stop by next time and check the new concept. Looking forward.

I have enjoyed both lunch and dinner in the past, but sadly no more. This is no longer fine dining. With Fish & Chips, club sandwich etc on the menu. embarrassing as I was with a business client. Average service. food has also gone down hill. The fish and chips consisted of 3 goujons with lots of greasy batter and chunky chips. Won't be coming back here again.

Visited the Clarence one afternoon for weekend brunch had visited the Clarence bar previous day. One thing that has really affected my review is the presence of what appear to be beer flies in both locations within hotel. Atmosphere was difficult to rate as we were the only 2 in restaurant. Service was so so. Food was ok but had much better in service places in dublin. Disappointed as I had high hopes for this hotel! Was even considering staying here on my next visit due to great location!
