We decided to eat here as they were doing a good deal of €45 for a four course menu. It was excellent value and the food was of a very high standard. I last ate here 6 years ago and One Pico hasn't changed a bit. We both commented on the lack of imagination in the decor of the main room and upstairs is extremely dated. It looks like it hasn't been touched since the early nineties.
The evening was pleasant enough but we also noticed something else strange; at no point did any member of staff check on our meals, or in fact the meals of any of the other diners. In fact no-one even asked us if we had enjoyed our meal when we asked for the bill or were leaving and it wasn't until we had actually left the building that we realised no-one had attempted to even pass pleasantries with us during service apart from the guy who took our coats. It was practically a silent service. Now, neither of us need or want to be entertained by restaurant staff but it was so entirely absent that we couldn't help getting the impression that the staff didn't really care one way or the other whether we had enjoyed our meal, or even came back. So, even though the food was great, the lack of atmosphere would probably not make me rush to go back.
