This is a classic Dublin pub, and i must say, it is flawless.
The Guiness here is perfect, the food - classics with a bit of a twist - is great, the atmosphere is warm and the service is excellent!
Don't worry if all the tables are taken - eating by the bar is actually more enjoyable :)

This bar is on a corner which means it has windows on two sides and is great. Plenty of seats and very near to Grafton Street and lots of great restaurants. Great for a pre or post meal drink. I've been in here many times over the last few years.

This is seriously one of the best people watching pubs in Dublin. Most places are kind of closed up with knick-knacks in the windows, but this place has huge, wrap-around windows that are great for watching the world go by.

Grab a high seat at the bar, a nice pint, and watch the world go by...perfect spot for a lazy afternoon.

I have been frequenting The Old Stand for some thirty years now, and so naturally I may come across as somewhat biased, but whatever. This pub is renowned for its lunches, which are wholesome and unpretentious, and have thankfully never changed. It is a common sight to see shoppers rubbing shoulders with business people during the day, which states, in here, we are all of us, equal. I love this pub and whenever I am in Ireland nay, Dublin. I always make time for at least a pint in here. It is as a Dublin pub is, excellent beer & service offering some respite from the outside world for a short while. This may sound awfully romantic, but that's why I love the pub, it suffers none of the oirish paddywackry that festoons so called Irish pubs around the globe. No muzak pumps out of speakers, no happy hour or karaoke here!

I just wish that advertising/ promo companies had used The Old Stand as a model when it rolled out the Irish around the globe all those years ago.

When friends from abroad want to experience a real Dublin pub I always send them here. I notice that the two bad reviews were from people who tried to bring children in. That is another reason why I like the Old Stand. Public houses are meant for adults, and this pub has stuck to their principles regarding this. The day that The Old Stand relaxes this rule something will have been lost. Long may The Old Stand stand!

This is one of Dublin's oldest hostelries and has been serving good food and drink to both locals and visitors alike for many many years. Its situated right in the heart of the city, close to Grafton St and St Stephens Green. The staff here are always very welcoming. Food is served most of the day and there is a good lunchtime menu which includes a daily special. Try the Lamb Shanks on Thursday, delicious. An extensive wine list is also available and last, but not least, a great pint of Guinness!!
