Nico's has been serving good Italian food for many years now. The menu is a bit old fashioned but the quality of what is served is always excellent. The scampi and prawn cocktail are made with fresh Dublin Bay prawns, the cannelloni and lasagne are full flavoured and generous and the aubergine parmigiana is amazing! Service is friendly and efficient and you'll need to book on weekend nights. Lunch offers excellent value with 2 courses and coffee for less than €20 and portions and quality at lunchtime are just the same as at night. Good wine list featuring all the usual Italians.

The restaurant has not changed in a generation. Veal dishes are the specialty and there is a wide selection. Steak is good too. The portions are just right. Service is good but be prepared to sit close to the neighbouring table at upper mid price restaurant.

This restaurant has to be the most unassuming I have ever eaten in. Located on Dame Street in Dublin it is one, if not the oldest Italian resuaurant in Dublin. From the outside it is not much to look at and you would pass it by without taking a second look but once you go through the entrance you are transported to a little piece of Italy. The restaurant is one room with modest decor and tables tightly placed together just like in Italy. The staff are wonderful and busy. The piano in the corner by the door is played as you dine and adds to the ambience. The food is freshly prepared and our faviourite is a starter of home made ravoli in a rich creamy sauce. Take the fresh Italian bread and run it around the dish when you are finished. The steaks are really good particularly the taranedo. However, what we really enjoy is the sole duffin. Absolutely gorgeous. It is fresh prawns wrapped in sole and lightly fried. As for the wine, I drink red and the Sartori is excelllent. A meal like this for two with white wine for my wife and a dessert to share will probably set you abck around €120 or thereabouts but if you like authentic Italian food and a relaxed environment then Nicos is well worth a try. Make sure you give them a buzz to book your reservation.

Atmosphere very very Italian. Obscure glass shields out city, creating sense of being in another place. Staff very experienced and comfortable with their functions. We were made to feel very welcome and all the food came very timely and was of a very high standard. Decent wine list and in typical Italian style a cognac was provide on the house.
The experience is pricey but most enjoyable. The music is provided by a pianist which adds to the atmoshpere and is professional level.
