When you want to take someone to a restaurant and have no disappointments, that is the place to go if you ant seafood or fish. There are meat, chicken in the menu, but havent tried them.
The worst that can happen when taking someone in a restaurant, it is to have troubles with the food or service! too raw, cold, delays, waiter never comes....In a bussiness meeting? AAAAHHHHHH! That can make all your work spoiled by a bad mood caused in a restaurant.

This place was a peace of mind! Excelent service, excelent food, price is not a MacDonalds, but to have the service, attention, fireplace, music, very fine dining place at this price including wine and service charge, it is totally worthy!
Tommy and Gary (father and son) are very welcoming and very zealous with everything.

ONLY thing that let me down a bit, is about parking. Not a problem, but not that comfort. There are plenty parking available in the streets around, Hebert park road, but you have to pay and display and walk around the corner and rain is something that happens quite a lot in Ireland.

Dined in the Lobster Pot in February 2013, 2 of us for dinner. There is a very wide selection of fresh seafood available for both starter and main course ranging from Dublin Bay Prawns, Oysters, Bream, Dover Sole, Fried Plaice, large and small Sea Bass etc etc. In addition, there is a good selection of meats and game. Overall, it is a good menu, if somewhat unimaginative. However, fresh seafood cooked well needs little embellishment and the Lobster Pot cooks is well.
For starter, we had 6 Carlingford Oysters that were very fresh and juicy, really good. My partner has prawns and scallops tossed in a garlic butter, again very good. For mains, she had Sea Bass taken of the bone expertly at the table by the manager, who is a charming and attentive operator. I had Sole Caprice, suggested by the maitre d' - this was cooked with banana and chutney, which was delicious.
Desert was good with an old fashioned Desert Trolley taken around from table to table.
One thing that did irk me - my partner can only eat gluten free bread and they did not have some. This should be easily available and provided in all establishments.............particularly with the prices the Lobster Pot charge.
Overall, including a half bottle of white, the bill came to €165, which was very expensive given comparable restaurants in Ireland. In understand that to put the best of produce and fresh seafood on the table, they need to charge a premium but €82.50 a head is just overboard. I shudder to think what I would have spent had we ordered a full bottle of wine (or 2) and after diner drinks! There is better value available close by with standards as good and indeed better!

ate here recently, food was very good, old fashioned service. was shocked in this day and age that a hefty service charge is added to bill and only two of us eating !! Surley, a tip is at ones discression. i live in a large tourist town in Ireland and nowhere in my hometown is there a service charge. would go back for the great food, but would not because of service charge and would not recomend because of same. Sorry

After a day of business meetings and very little to eat, we were ready for a nice meal. Having observed the Lobster Pot and having several locals recommend it, we decided to give it a try. When you first enter the dining room, it has the old world ambiance of those 60's & 70's classic, linen table cloth restaurants you would find in Dublin as well as San Francisco. Waiters are in Tuxedo style attire and the place is warm and gracious.

We were ushered in with no reservation, although we were a bit early, at 6:45. Beverages were offered along with a well done wine list, (which I found to be reasonable to expensive, leaning more towards reasonably priced)

With the weather having been very Cold recently, we each opted for soup, to start. Bab's for the lobster chowder and I for the prawn bisque. Both were beautifully done with the prominent flavours expected from the main ingredients, yet a subtle depth of flavours which left us both wanting more.

For our mains, Babs opted for salmon in a light wine, garlic, cream and cheese sauce ( a Thermador style sauce) I had a lovely black sole cooked bone-in and served de-boned with a fabulously delicate wine and cream beur blanc sauce. Both were served with a medley of vegetables, which in their own right were very good.

To wash this all down, we had a superb Pouilly Fuisse at 38.50, and it was well worth the cost.

What we found very old world, was the waiter wheeling in the cart, loaded with the Fresh Fish Options of the day, artistically arrayed before us, thus allowing us to inspect as well as select the perfectly fresh option for our meals. They had the same for their wonderful dessert options at the end of the meal.

We had a delightful meal and a wonderful time, with just enough of a nostalgic hint to make us want to come back over and over.
