It is so easy to be critical these days and rant on the Internet. Therefore, ill start on a negative note.

It is a nightmare to book Chapter One. Mainly because everyone else is also trying to book it as well. I think this can fall under the term 'criticism'?

Secondly, it's a bit expensive. Why should you be expected to pay more for great food, wonderful wines and superb service?

Positives?

Everything else. The staff couldn't be more friendly and all of them welcomed us.

The drinks menu was interesting with a nice selection of spirits to start off with.

The food menu was four course delight. A bit adventurous for my boring limited tastes but I enjoyed each one and nothing was left on any plate. The lamb was particulary fantastic and cooked perfectly.

The wine list was extensive & the 3 bottles were finished too easily.

The coffee Martinis finished off the meal & gave the necessary injection of caffeine!

It will be while before I can go back but I'll give it a good blast again when I do!

Best restaurant in Dublin, a little expensive for the average Joe, but treat yourself when in Dublin ,Make sure you book in advance and ask about the early bird menu, much better value and just as good,

It was clear from the first moment we walked into Chapter One that we were going to thoroughly enjoy our lunch. A warm welcome and great service was a common theme throughout, with plenty of personal informal touches that really make you feel at home.
It was no surprise that the food was absolutely top notch, and we came away feeling like the whole experience had been a special one.
If you get the opportunity to go, I wholeheartedly recommend it.

We were welcomed by very friendly yet excellent staff and the rest of the meal followed the same standard. Very comfortable surroundings and gorgeous food. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a memorable meal.

Upon arrival we were greeted by fantastically friendly staff, although to be truthful, we found everyone to a person in Ireland to have this same approach, so it was no surprise. Although we arrived on time for our dinner reservation, we were led to a tiny bar to sit, order a drink and in due course actually see a menu and order food – all before going to our table. This was surprising, but we accepted it as their “way.” We ordered two Martini Biancos on the rocks and were told they had only enough for one. Okay, we thought, so they don’t have it. What about an Aperol spritz? The waiter had never heard of Aperol. Two strikes and we haven’t even seen the menu. After consulting with someone else who procured a bottle with some Aperol left in it he produced for us Aperol topped with soda. An Aperol spritz, as any worthy bartender ought to know is topped with Prosecco, not soda! However, we saw no point in getting off to a really bad start and looking like annoying tourists, so we sucked it up. Then it was on to the menu.

They then took our dinner order and were eventually led to our table. The atmosphere was frantic. In spite of all of the frenetic activity, we had been in the place for an hour before we had an appetizer.

The problem for us is that we enjoy dining when traveling as an experience. This one just didn’t have it for us. The food when it finally arrived was what we could describe as nice, or good. It certainly doesn’t rank among the best we’ve experienced in our travels throughout the world.

There are many lovely restaurants in Dublin. Unless you really need that Michelin star experience to have bragging rights when you get home, give this one a miss. Michelin stars tell only part of the story: they are only about the food, not the entire experience.
