“Tasty food, with a great atmosphere”
Reviewed December 19, 2012

Chameleon is right in the centre of temple bar, yet when you step through its doors the noise of the street disappears and the chameleons charming atmosphere takes over. The staff here are really great and the explained the type of dining and all the dishes brilliantly. We got so much food we could hardly finish it, but it all tasted amazing. Would defiantly bring a group of friends here.

“Nice food - too much happening”
Reviewed December 16, 2012

Chameleon is a charming quaint restaurant in the heart of Temple Bar. On the night we ate here it was very busy and we didnt have a reservation - but they accommodated us. The table wasn't great (it was more like an after thought to put a table here I felt). However - as we were only in Dublin for a few nights and we wanted to eat here, we took it. It is a very different eating experience - in that you dont have a starter followed by a main course with accompaniments. You choose a menu (they all have Indonesian names) - and you get 6 or 7 little dishes of food. Menu prices start at €24 and go up to €55. Myself and my husband chose 2 different menus and ended up with 14 dishes in front of us. I felt you couldn't see the wood for the trees. There was much too much going on. As all the food came together - we shared all the dishes. I think in hindsight we would have been better off getting the same menu x 2 - that way there would have been less flavour explosions/clashes. All the dishes we had were very strongly spiced. Some dishes overpowered others completely. That may have been because we had so many different flavours to contend with.

While the food was lovely and the staff were very nice - I felt we had too much food, there were too many clashing flavors/spice combinations and we didnt get a chance to enjoy any one dish properly.

Definitely worth a visit.

Thanks for your review which was mostly positive and we appreciate your feed-back. It can be a lot for the palate the first time you try a rijst-tafel we usually recommend a sharing rijst-tafel for couples Krakatu at €58 for two people. Were delighted you tried us and hope you will consider coming back again in 2013. Have a very happy Christmas and best wishes for the New Year.

“Delectable”
Reviewed December 11, 2012

This is one of my favourite restaurants in Dublin, The setting is great, lots of low down tables and cushion seats, morrocan style, normal tables too for the flexibilly challenged...food is unreal, loads of little delicious tasty morsels, not too much of any one thing, lots of flavours you probably never tasted before and even the deserts are YUM!

“A True Gem!”
Reviewed December 10, 2012

My husband and I ate at the Chameleon last night. We walked over after reading the great reviews. We were seated very quickly. The staff and service was exceptional, and the food was great. We had some cabernet sauvignon and the "Krakatau". The drink was good and the food was WONDERFUL. The flavors were all unique and delicious. We left stuffed and satisfied with the overall experience. If we ever have the opportunity to visit Dublin again, we will most definitely dine at The Chameleon! Very unique!
