This is a really nice guesthouse located in a neat, terraced street off the main Dublin road. The property is at the end of one the terraces - turn right and you're in Donnybrook itself with the bus stops into the City or the airport; turn left and you can walk (about 10 minutes) into Ranelagh Village with its huge choice of restaurants, pubs and small shops. And there is Donnybrook itself with great bars for food and drink, and of course the Rugby ground - the place is heaving on match days. The guesthouse has youthful friendly staff, and the owner, Terry, wil always make sure you're looked after. The rooms - various sizes but immaculately clean (and recently decorated, judging by the faint smell of fresh paint); the beds are comfortable, and the bedlinen crisp. I travel to Dublin quite a lot for work, and I'm so glad I've found a home from home - great value too.

Hotel overbooked on arrival, confusion whether I was going to get a room at all and three gents had to go somewhere else!
Booked en suite room, supplied room with separate bathroom downstairs. In fairness a small discount was offered but only after complaining.
Breakfast ok but all food limited to order only rather than the normal unlimited fruit, cereal, yogurt etc.
On the plus side.. good location for RDS conference centre with pleasant walk through Herbert park 15mins.
Rooms all clean, but fairly small.

Great location to central Dublin as it is only 20 minutes walk (3k's) or catch a bus near to the Guesthouse.
Limited car parking out the front (2) - suggest reserve a spot when booking accommodation. Located in a shabby street and is not that appealling from the road. Friendly advice on touring Dublin and what was on offer at the nearby shops. Our room (#10) was down the back in a garden cottage and was quiet. Decor was fair, bed and shower was okay.
The cooked breakfast was okay but the cooking smell lingered in the main part of the house.

On arrival this looked to be a lovely guest house, but then we quickly realised that it was not going to be the relaxing experience we had hoped. Room 7 was sandwiched between the kitchen, the dining area and the door leading to the car park, and the noise was absolutely ridiculous. We were awakened by the doorbell late at night, and by the staff in the early morning. The breakfast service was okay, but as they have more rooms than tables, there was a backup of more than 30 minutes to be seated, with another 45 minute wait for breakfast itself. The cleaning was average at best, with missing towels, soap, no toilet paper, etc. The poor man who appears to have been hired to simultaneously check people out, help serve breakfast, help with cleaning and generally provide information and support could definitely use some help! Given that this cost us 100 euros per night, when it was not even near the centre, seemed outrageously expensive and frankly poor value for money. You're better off paying more to be near the centre where you can be sure of the quality and get what you're paying for.

We stayed at Donnybrook Hall for 2 nights and had a fantastic stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We were travelling as a family- 2 Adults and 3 Children (4,6&8) and they couldn't have done anymore for us. They arranged for us to arrive a night early at very short notice, which meant rearranging their rooms but they did this willingly. Terry the owner was a really Irish character and entertained us and the kids with 'magic' tricks and friendly banter. He and his staff were just as accommodating to the other guests while we were there. We strongly recommend staying at Donnybrook Hall, which is an easy 10min bus ride or 20min walk into the centre of Dublin.

Just came back from Dublin; stayed 5 nights in Donnybrook Hall. Room and the bathroom were great (also cleaned every single day!) but the best thing was the service, especially with the breakfast. You were served individually and could ask what ever you wanted (try the french toast, yum!).

Great area, quiet and clean, and not too far from the centre.
From the airport you can take the aircoach (runs just pass the Belmont Avenue) or buses nro 746 / 748 - not quite sure about the 748, but 746 goes through Donnybrook.

We bought a rambler ticket from the airport and used the buses as much as we wanted for 17,30 € (for 5 days). The bus trip to the centre took about 15 minutes (buses 46A, 10 and 10A go to the centre and it's only about 5 min. walk to the bus stop) and the drivers are very helpfull to tell when to hop off if they know where you're going.

There are couple of pubs nearby, then for example Eddie Rockets for those who don't want to have a beer with their meals & a fine indian restaurant Khan Balti House so you don't always need to go to the centre to have a dinner.

All in all; great value.

I just spent 8 nights at Donnybrook Hall and loved it. As a frequent traveler to Ireland for business, I have been staying at different places to find my "Irish home" and I just found it.

Extremely friendly staff, great breakfast options, tea and coffee all day and bright airy rooms makes this a gem in Dublin. All manner of shops a short walk away and also easy access into the city center. Buses and Air Coach (from the airport) are only a 2 minutes walk up the road.

They have internet access and a comfortable lounge.

As a single woman traveler this property is in a safe part of Dublin and I would recommend it highly.
