My husband and I stayed here for one night last week while we were in Dublin. We found it to be a fine stay. The location is pretty good - Stephens Green is right on the edge of city center so it is a quick couple of blocks walk and you're right in the middle of everything. The room was nice. Our bed was two twin/doubles pushed together which made one massive bed, but the beds were comfortable so that was OK. Overall, it was a nice place, good location, and reasonably priced.

We spent 4 nights in Dublin and had a wonderful time. The staff of the hotel were both helpful and friendly. We were able to get to anywhere in Dublin from the hotel. The restaurant was closed when we were there for dinner. But the staff advised us where to go for a great time. Go to Duke's for the literary pub crawl !!!!!!!!!!

THE O'Callaghan Group has 4 hotels in Dublin; so far I have tried 3 and I would not go back to any of them.
Rooms are fine and breakfasts average but staff are unfriendly and almost hostile. For that reason the hotels all lack sparkle and atmosphere. You almost feel as if you are de trop......
In the same trip we also went to a hotel outside Dublin where the staff could not do enough for you without being intrusive. What a difference!!!!!!!

The location is perfect - a calm oasis on the south west corner of St Stephens Green. There is something very warm and relaxing about this hotel - the atmosphere is very calm and welcoming. The rooms are a good size (no separate shower, just a bath/shower combo) with good quality beds.
The breakfast area is small and I imagine it can get hectic at the business end of the serving, so I recommend getting there early. All the usual grub was available, with the sausages and mini croissants stealing the show.

When I arrived at O'Callaghan's, I was given a room that smelled like cigarette smoke. When I complained, I was given a room that looked out on to a wall. When I complained about that, I was given a room in the new section of the hotel. It was spectacular - spacious, beautifully decorated, quiet, nice view. Actually, all of the rooms that I saw were very attractive, and the young man who helped me at the front desk was very nice. Other than a very comfortable experience in the hotel, I must also add that the location is fantastic - just off Stephen's Green and lots of interesting neighborhoods. We did not eat breakfast at the hotel. One of Tripadvisors reviewers suggested Bewley's Cafe, which is close by, and we went there both mornings. Don't miss it!

The hotel is old, but they have kept it up. The front desk was friendly and professional. I had trouble with the window in my room (needed to get the cigarette smoke smell out) and the young man from the desk went out of his way to make sure I got it open. Once opened the cigarette smell was not bad. Breakfast was a little boring after all the great B&Bs we stayed at on in the West. The best thing about the hotel is the location. It is right across from St. Stephen's Green and within walking distance to Grafton Street, theatre and great restaurants. Not too expensive for right in the heart of Dublin.
