Stayed here whilst doing some work for my company just along the road.

My room was ready for me on arrival and what a room - massive, big shower, big bath, big bed - immaculately clean.

All staff were very very friendly - one of them advised not to take breakfast in the hotel but to go just around the corner to a place called Jimmy's - which by the way, did an excellent breakfast and restorative hangover cure.

The hotel is well placed for sightsee'rs, just opposite a lovely big park and within fairly easy walking distance of most attractions etc. Don't bother drinking in the Temple bar area with all the Stags and Hen's, just nearby is a much more peaceful and better priced street for drinking in and the beer is so much better.

Bar prices in the hotel are a bit on the expensive side, the food is simple but with so many great eating places nearby, why stay in?

Really did like this hotel. Stayed for a week whilst on a course so stay was business related. Room was immaculate and well furnished. Staff were friendly and helpful, bar has a good atmosphere and the gym was well equipped. Good location for the Grafton and Trinity areas of the City plus Temple Bar isn't far. Recommended.

We visited for two nights, May 11-13, 2006, arriving at 10:00 a.m. We had emailed requesting an early check-in. To our delight our suite was ready. The location was directly on St. Stephen's Green; very close to Trinity College and Grafton St. The staff was helpful, the room was clean. We'd stay again in a heartbeat.

We booked up at this hotel at short notice for a three night stay in April. After arriving into Dublin Airport, we took the Air Coach into the city and were pleased to find that the St Stephen's hotel was only a five minute walk from the Lower Leeson Street stop - very convenient. And equally convenient getting back to the airport as well.

The staff at the reception weren't the friendliest people you will come across but they were efficient.

We decided to go for the breakfast buffet every morning and it was excellent. There was a great selection of cereal, breads, pastries, cooked food, fruit juices... etc. Everything you want and certainly enough to keep you going throughout the day.

Our room was clean and comfortable. I would stay in this hotel again. It's not right in the centre of town but only a five minute walk and you are right into the busy shopping and pub-and-club areas.

My partner and I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights over Easter. We had booked through a discount hotel website and were pleasantly suprised to be offered a complimentary upgrade to a junior suite upon arrival.

The room was spacious and clean, although the bathroom was a little tired but everything was in perfect working order.

The hotel is in an excellent location, just tucked away from the main hustle and bustle of Grafton Street so you can be sure of a quiet night's sleep.

The only negative is that the staff were not particularly welcoming and found it hard to make any sort of eye contact. Despite this, they were efficient and check in/out was straight forward.

I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a central location without costing the earth.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The hotel comprises of two magnificently restored Georgian buildings, with a heritage of great historical and cultural importance to Ireland. One was home to the great Irish playwright, George Fitzmaurice, while 4 Harcourt Street was the birthplace of Lord Edward Carson, one of the founders of Northern Ireland and a central figure in Ireland’s Unionism movement. Entering through the tasteful reception area, guests will be struck by the stunning glass atrium, filling the lobby with natural light and overlooking the idyllic Stephen’s Green park. The stylish interior design throughout the hotel, with wood panelling and soft leather furnishings sitting alongside Georgian stucco ceilings and elegant fireplaces, beautifully showcases the fusion of old and new. George Fitzmaurice is honoured in the hotel through our bar and restaurant, which are named after two of his plays. The ‘Magic Glasses’ Bar is an opulent, comfortable bar where local businesspeople and visitors alike regularly meet over a coffee or drink, while the ‘Pie Dish’ Bistro, set in the bright atrium and the inner rooms of the Georgian houses, serves the finest in contemporary Irish and international cuisine. Located on the first floor, the Georgian library has a charming old-world feel, where you can sit in 19th century surrounds, featuring open fireplaces and chandeliers – an ideal way to unwind over a pre-dinner drink. A gymnasium is available for the exclusive use of residents, while the business centre is open 24 hours, with a secretarial service available for the business guest.
