We were initially excited about our stay at this property. It seemed very nice on the website. Unfortuantely the view out our window was of a construction site. The building between the hotel and another building was being torn down and rebuilt. We woke up around 8am to construction underway and workers drilling and yelling. I would think they would alert people of this beforehand. We would have never stayed there or in that room knowing that.
Also, we wasted money on two taxis to the hotel becuase the first taxi brought us to the wrong OCallaghan hotel - they have 4 hotels in London. So make sure you have the full address with you so you can be clear with the taxi driver - we weren't!

Undoubtedly a great location, but some rooms at the front do suffer from traffic noise. Rooms at the back are quieter but without views.

Read that a refurbishment program is to be started soon and this is well overdue if the condition of our room was anything to go by.

Decor, furniture and the bathroom were all old and scuffed. Several appliances were kept together by tape and there were holes in the bedclothes.

The room was spacious, but not very well cleaned.

Reception staff were mixed , mainly friendly but inefficient judging by queues at checkout. There were several other customers complaining about the condition of their rooms when we were there too.

Hotel restaurant prices are high and there are so many places to eat nearby that we gave the hotel restaurant a wide berth.

This hotel is expensive and not what I would choose for anything other than business .It is definitely not worthy of a 4 star rating. Travel Lodges seem to have a more efficient maintenance programme

Dublin is expensive and this hotel seems to be all about location. St Stephens Green is definitely a good base for exploring Dublin, but think I will pick another hotel in the area next time.

Notice that the hotel management has started to reply to reviews posted here.
Hope this means that there is a growing awareness of the hotel's shortfalls and lack of attention to detail . Just wish that their Customer Relations would learn to spell ......

Hotel was a great location by the park, obviously the posh part of Dublin. The staff were very nice - rooms were ok but the mini bar was empty and there was no soft light summer duvet, scratchy woolen sheets. Dublin was very nice but we have never seen so many shops in a such a small area!
If you want some recommendations then Lemon for lunch on Sth William Street, a restaurant called Sadlers Room which served the most amazing seafood.
Dublin is a great city especially if you want to shop!

Dublin City is a lovely place, but for some reason staff at this particular hotel were just plain obnoxious-even if it was Christmas time, Magic Glasses bar downstairs refused to bring me drinks upto the room and receptionist in the morning took 27 minutes to chck me out-and that with simple bill and with no extras!-Ended up literally flying to the airport in a taxi not to miss the flight back to the UK.
The Irish people seemed to have lost their charm that they use to have, everyone so obsessed with money and just arrogant, otherwise the stay would have been very nice.

I booked 3 rooms for 6 adults on lastminute.com. As this was a special surprise weekend away for one of our party I called about a month before the holiday to request good rooms on high floors. When we arrive we were informed that we had all been upgraded to suites, one of the rooms being number 1600, possibly the best room in the hotel as it is on the top floor, on the corner, has a balcony on 2 sides of the room, and looks over the park. The staff in the hotel were very pleasant. The hotel bar / restaurant was very comfortable and not noisy at all. Prices of the drinks / food were high.
I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone wanting very comfortable accommodation in a superb location in Dublin.
Bewleys on Grafton street proved to be the best place for breakfast.

Spent one night here on business. Location perfect for city centre. Was surprised at the high cost of wifi in rooms - not acceptable in this day. Did not eat in hotel. Would not have a problem with staying here again but it would not entice me if it was a non-business stay.

I found out about this hotel here in Trip Advisor. I was going to book another hotel and many Trip Advisor fellow posters told me to choose this are, Stephen's Green, and they were not mistaken. It's the perfect starting point to explore Dublin. We were only one/two blocks away from what seems to be one of the meeting points in Dublin, where Grafton St. starts, just opposite Stephen Green's Park. The hotel is very nice, not quite a 4-star, but a very good 3. The bed was king size, the bathroom impecable, lcd tv, ironing board, coffee/tea machine in the room, which had a very good size and cupboard. We had a standard room and it was perfect, don't know about the others but the size was ok for a couple, I wouldn't advise you to pay an extra charge for anything bigger. The gym was well equipped and there is a business centre in the basement, although you had to pay a fee to use it. I hope they change this policy in the future. Internet access in hotels of this category should be free. Breakfast was expensive: Euros 16 per person, but there are plenty of cafes nearby, where you can have a great b-fast for Euros 5. There is also a nice bar downstairs where you can watch a rugby match or have a drink, even grab sthg to eat at reasonable prices. The staff members were nice but would not go over the edge to help you. I needed an adaptor for my plugs, for instance, but no one could help me with this, not even telling me where I could get one myself. However, I highly recommend this hotel for its comfort, cleanliness and, overall, its PERFECT LOCATION !

The stylish interior design throughout the hotel, with wood panelling and soft leather furnishings sitting alongside Georgian stucco ceilings and elegant fireplaces, beautifully showcases the fusion of old and new. George Fitzmaurice is honoured in the hotel through our bar and restaurant, which are named after two of his plays. The ‘Magic Glasses’ Bar is an opulent, comfortable bar where local businesspeople and visitors alike regularly meet over a coffee or drink, while the ‘Pie Dish’ Bistro, set in the bright atrium and the inner rooms of the Georgian houses, serves the finest in contemporary Irish and international cuisine. Located on the first floor, the Georgian library has a charming old-world feel, where you can sit in 19th century surrounds, featuring open fireplaces and chandeliers – an ideal way to unwind over a pre-dinner drink.
