What a perfect place to stay in the city of Dublin during Christmastime. Just couldn't beat the room over the pub--it was exactly what we were looking for. Room was huge, clean and easily accessible. The bar was just as described on its website--busy and buzzing with locals and visitors alike. Oliver went above and beyond in assuring that we were well taken care of, especially in the pub! I'm looking forward to visiting Dublin again, and when I do it will include another stay at O'Donoghue's.

The staff are great and very friendly..I felt very at home and comfortable here. Fanatastic music scene. Only downside I can see for others is it is very loud at night as it is a very popular place..but honestly I wouldnt recommend staying here if your looking to stay in your room on a saturday night and sleep.

Room Tip: Maybe a room further up would be quieter?

Far from temple bar, relatively speaking, this is a true neighborhood spot. perfect for a relaxing pint after a long day of sightseeing or chatting it up to find the best meal in town. They prepour the Guinness half way so you can get it right away and served a few dozen in the hour we enjoyed at the bar. it was a Sunday night and local musicians were set up in front jamming out. great way to unwind before dinner across town.

If you are looking for that authentic Dublin experience, look no further for your accommodations and pub to hang out at. However, your expectations must be in check to stay here. When the check in desk is the bartender at the pub downstairs, you can't expect to have room service or anything amenities-wise. It is what it states..a guest house not a hotel. You can tell the pub and the walls of this establishment have seen it all. Be aware there is a pub directly below you, so if you don't plan on joining in the fun, I might recommend to stay elsewhere. The bartenders were great and i was pleasantly surprised at the rooms. Very clean and somewhat updated. Private bathroom of course. You literally can't beat it for the price. And the location is great. You are within walking distance to everything you could possibly want to see in central Dublin. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a good value and/or an authentic & fun place to stay when in Dublin.

We were recommended to visit this famous pub as we love atmospheric and character in a pub.
Very well known as a hangout for local musicians who sit around and play together over a pint.
you can taste the character and it oozes history.
Also without a doubt the best pint of Guinness in Dublin and the guys behind the bar were welcoming, helpful and friendly and made a real difference.
Cant wait to get back and hit the Guinness !

If your looking for a basic room(bed, toilet, shower,)this is great value for money in a great location, the downside is lots of noise from the pubs and traffic, the rooms a pretty basic but the price is great for the area,to be able to stay so close to stephens green, the shelbourne, grafton st,for around € 55. you cant beat it.

O'Donoghue's is an excellent and affordable Guest House in the heart of Dublin. Although it is not a hotel, it works very well. They have cleaned the room everyday, the check in was very easy (ckeck in is at the pub downstairs - I had a beer while waiting for my room), and staff was very kind. It is very close to Grafton Street, St Stephens Green Park, and if you would like to experiment a 'posh' hotel, have breakfast at the Shelbourne Hotel, 3 minutes walking from O'Donoghues. Another bonus for this Guest House, is that the best pub for tradicional Irish Music is just downstairs. The music from the pub does not reach the rooms, so, if music disturbs you to sleep, it ill not be a problem. Highly recommended.
